PIXAR dead end Animation?

hi folks

Do you think that Pixar are taking 3D computer Animation up an alley or dead end , Like Disney did with Drawn Animation. Im talking here about the perception that the general public as of 3D computer Animation and that it can only seem to look like Pixar films.

I don't think that's PIXAR's fault. If other studios made better 3D movies in other styles, then people will know the differance. Although it is amazing how many people would come in to the Disney Store, when I worked there, and ask for Bugs Bunny or Tweety bird stuff.

...we must all face a choice, between what is right... and what is easy."

Last night I found out that Ishu Patel resigned from the National Film Board of Canada because the people up there are only thinking about making 3d movies like Pixar's.

By the other hand, Pixar people are too smart to get stuck into a dead end. I prefer to think they know and care much more about animation than that, and while people keep trying to emulate them technically, they'll always have a new rabbit to pull out of the hat. Using other animation techniques, for example.

To me, it seems like it doesn't matter how something is animated. If it's animated, people associate it with Disney. Whether it's Pixar, Dreamworks, Don Bluth, Blue Sky, Warner Bros. . .

But I don't think Pixar will set a standard so that all CG stuff looks like theirs. I think there's enough innovation that we'll be able to tell. At least those of us in the field, anyway.

2-D animation will never die. The invention of photography did not kill painting. Why would animation be any different?

Based on what I've seen in trailers and such, I think "The Incredibles" is going to be different from previous Pixar offerings. I too was concerned that they were headed down a "kid-friendly" path (albeit with more edge than standard Disney fare), but I think this one's going to add some breadth to their depth.

Here's hopin', anyway...

Oh, man, you should have seen the clips of 'Incredibles' that Brad Bird personally showed at the San Diego Comic-Con...duuude, this movie is gonna be freakin' AWESOME. Everyone was laughing their heads off and clapping the whole time, it was great. Mr. Bird had this big wide grin on his face, you could tell he was just mopping up our enjoyment of his work. But yeah, man, I can't wait...
