If You Haven't Seen Shrek 2...go See It!

Here's a thread to hear some opinions of Shrek 2.

Let me be the first to have the honor of saying...that it was PHENOMENAL!

-There wasn't a cliche joke, but most of them had me in tears. The modelling, texturing, colours were stunning. The special effects were stunning. The animation was spectacular...the story was ground breaking.

I'm expecting to hear a great deal of good about this film in the coming year

Go see it, without a doubt, it's worth every penny.

Adam

it's good innit? :)

i'm glad that you liked it, adam. we had shrek day today to celebrate the release and i got some goodies. yay!

please go and see our film. it would make me happy.

Word up to that my friend

My co-worker saw the movie last night and said it was amazing! I hope to see it this weekend. Kevan, I look forward to hearing what you worked on. Cheers

The movie was beautiful, like I mentioned in the earlier post. What grabbed me in this film, more so than in the last, was their attention to character, and their gifted observation. It wasn't enough to capture funny moments, but the fine little details in the characters were phenomenal. Little fun things that were visual proof that the animators put every possible effort into capturing the essence of life, and knowing exactly how to play with it....DAMN IT WAS GOOD! I haven't stopped raving about it all day.
And as you can see, I'm trying DESPERATELY not to give away any of the plot or jokes...I want everyone to see this with fresh eyes.

What a fantastic job! I'm still f-n laughing.

Adam

thanks guys! i shall pass on your responses...

hey matt, was there a garfield joke?! i still haven't spotted all of the stuff in there - there's so many!

*jumps up and down excitedly*

Now I really can't wait to see it!!!!!

Get this...I've networked my "excited to see the movie" contacts. So far, I'm going to see it with my mother, my two sisters, my daughter, and three close friends (all seperately of course).

& more times on big screen. It's the only way to fly.

hehehe..

Adam

well, i hope it's as good the sixth time as it is the first, adam! :)

I didn't enjoy Shrek very much in the theater, but loved it on TV (go figure), so I'll probably wait for Shrek 2 to come out on DVD.

I just saw it yesterday and was VERY impressed!!!! I love it! I can't wait to own it on DVD. The detail was amazing!

Congratulations to you Kevan and all your co-workers there. I wasn't a very big fan of Shrek. It had nice FX and texturing, but the story didn't grab me very much and all the mean jokes turned me off.

BUT I really enjoyed the second one. I really enjoyed the story. This time the writing was actually funny as opposed to a dull story with rapid fire jokes. The animation has greatly improved over the first one. The characters still didn't have enough weight for me though. And most of the humans, mostly the secondary characters really bugged me.

I loved the big finish durring the Godmother's song. It had me laughing to tears. Puss was great too. I just love his acting when he says "I will not cry!" Amazingly well done.

Kevan, can you tell us what you worked on in the film, or will you get busted?

Once again, congratulations. Great job all around. You succeded in turning a non-fan of PDI to a big fan. :D

The Ape

...we must all face a choice, between what is right... and what is easy."

Now Kevan,

Tell me that isn't the world's best high. I'm a comin' back to say it again. You and the entire Shrek team are a collaboration of bloody geniouses.

Felicitaciones!

Adam

cheers adam et al!

i've been forwarding snippets of this thread to the other animators here and it's made them happy.

:)

My daughter and I "just" came back from the movie. I told her there's someone on here who helped make it. She's 6 and she said to tell you "I really liked the movie. Thank you for making it."

Now if that isn't the best judge of "it's awesome", I'll just have to put my 2 cents in as well and say I was smiling throughout the whole movie and laughed a lot. I personally loved the whole "hair" thing. It is just so "true to life" for some I know. Unfortunately, some left at the end before seeing what comes after the credits. (Those little surprises were spoiled for me by the damn toys that are available!! Which we already have the whole action figure set. Smelly things...kids love'em.)

Anyhoo, not too many movies do that for me - leave me feeling satisfied (hmmm, this is starting to sound weird now) and that it was a great way to spend the time. It *was* a great time and my first thought was "Damn! it's not available for home viewing until November?!?!?!"

Great work! Our appreciation to you and the crew.

Erin ;)

Leaves you kinda speachless doesn't it.

Adam

if you check out the book there's a picture of us PDI'ers in there....

i'm skulking right at the back, about 2mm in size.

well jamie, that's what we're doing right now! the DVD is out in november, i think...

Can't wait for it to come out over here in the UK! One of THE sequels I actually think looks good! Got very bored of sequels and prequels last year, it just shows that if you have the story and right creative team you can do it!

Adam:cool: (its sunny here!)

Russian's provincia can account only on pirat verse. I know it is bad but just such new movies come here. Hope it will be with normal quality. I want to see it very much.

I just finished seeing it. It was awsome. Great take on the story. Great character animation. Just a darn good movie. Highly recomended.

two thumbs up!

Loved it!We just got back and I was also very impressed, we have a cat that is identical to puss in boots!(we may just change his name!!)Seriously it was great, check it out; kids in tow or not!Lots of pop culture refs as usual!
swankaman

very funny stuff. looks amazing. diffferent (and i think better) than pixar. but, of course, the incredibles hasn't come out yet.

go see it. and stay for the credits.

Better than the first! Puss In Boots stole the show! Gonna have to pick this one up on dvd for sure!

Woo hoo! I was expecting it on DVD around Christmastime so November would be awesome!! :D I hope it has a ton of behind-the-scenes stuff--my fave. ;)

Oh wow. You can REALLY see a difference between human Fiona in Shrek 1 and human Fiona in Shrek 2. I mean.....WOW. And the Blue Fairy lady...MAN. What a great job. She looked freakin' REAL (and Ms. Saunders' colorful voice definitely helped with that, I'm sure)....

I used to think that 3D could never come close to making realistic humans, and granted that some of the movements may have been a bit choppy and stuff....but the rendering was off the freakin' HOOK. Shrek 2 was AWESOME.

...My boyfriend and I were in tears (laughing) during the 'Cops'/drug-bust scene, when they got the bag of catnip from Puss...and the 'pepper-spray'....hee hee!

I just wanted to chime in here and say thanks guys for all the wonderful comments. Congrats Kevan on a job well done. I got my jacket and FX shirts the other day - my family is proud to wear them in public.:)

Here's to Shrek2 breaking Spiderman's record!

Btw, I got all my shots on DVD that I worked on. You can get it before waiting for the DVD if you have to.

Cheers,

-M

thanks mr mysterious blue! current trends indicate that the movie will break spiderman's record in a couple of weeks.

all the best
