Avatar to Open in Record Number of IMAX Theatres on December 18

IMAX Corporation (Nasdaq:IMAX) (TSX:IMX) and Twentieth Century Fox today announced that James Cameron's Avatar will open in 178 IMAX(R) theatres domestically on December 18, 2009, simultaneously with the motion picture's premiere in conventional theatres. The IMAX(R) 3D release will also open in 83 IMAX theatres internationally starting on December 16th, for a total of 261 theatres, making this the Company's widest release to date.

Academy Partners With Lighthouse International On 10-Year Deal

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Lighthouse International, the premier non-profit dedicated to fighting vision loss, have concluded a new agreement that will provide an East Coast office for the Academy and a state-of-the-art theater for its extensive slate of film programs and screenings. The ten-year agreement will enable Lighthouse International to significantly upgrade and improve its theater and lobby area for screenings, exhibits, receptions and other events.
