NARUTO Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3

If you can’t tell by now, I like this game. It’s just fun. And, like I’ve said before about Wii games in general, it’s even better when fighting friends and family!

Publisher: TOMY Corp.; Release Date (US): 11/17/09; MSRP $39.99; ESRB: T; Wii

Ninja Revolution 3

Following on the heels of NARUTO Shippuden: Ninja Destiny 2 for the DS, TOMY takes all your favorite jutsu moves to the Wii console. NARUTO Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 is indeed the next level in ninja gaming.

Once again gamers are thrown into the Shippuden story arc – and good timing too, since Viz has recently began dropping the Shippuden anime. With over 35 characters to unlock, NARUTO and fighting game fans have much to look forward to.

Basically, you have the expected set-up. There is both a story and vs. mode. But what gamers will undoubtedly appreciate is that, regardless of mode, Ninja Revolution 3 is all about fighting.  Even in story mode you can bypass the dialogue and get straight to it! And TOMY has gone out of their way to make this experience truly unique. Here are some of the highlights.

With so many ninja, character specific jutsu and throws abound. But “latent ninja power” and the “wake-up system” are the real gems. When it looks like you’re going down for the count, like the fight is lost, you have one last chance with your latent ninja power. It may cost you some chakra, but a special move can turn the fight around! Better yet, the “wake-up system” allows you to execute offensive and defensive moves while getting up from a takedown. And since TOMY has removed those bugs that permit a technique to be used so repeatedly that it locks in and becomes invincible, a keen fighter can always defend himself and find an opening.

Oh yes, for those who love a good tag team – insert joke here – assist attacks are included!

You better start training now, cause this game will eventually require a little more than just bashing the controller.

Ninja Revolution 3

Okay, so you can just jump in and start bashing away. Like most Wii games, design favors intuitive or complex controlling. But Ninja Revolution 3 allows the gamer to mix his or her smarts with good old fashion brawling.

If you can’t tell by now, I like this game. It’s just fun. And, like I’ve said before about Wii games in general, it’s even better when fighting friends and family! NARUTO fans will obviously dig this game. But, say, for devout Tekken followers, the special jutsu and fighting capabilities mentioned above should satisfy their appetite. And the wi-fi mode is definitely on par with other fighting games, allowing for that much-desired interactivity.

NARUTO Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 is must have for both the fighting connoisseur and the weekend warrior.
