We are moving! Anifilm to take place in Liberec
Some of you may have suspected it, we are now confirming it – beginning next May, Anifilm International Festival of Animated Films will be taking place in Liberec. Eighteen previous editions of our festival took place in the South Bohemian town of Třeboň, but after the last edition, the time has come to move. As you are all aware, our festival has been gradually growing and the picturesque spa town unfortunately had limitations that our festival team had to overcome. The level and capacity of the town with regards to screening spaces, accommodation and gastronomical options was no longer adequate for an international film festival and its guests. Furthermore, the support our festival received from the town and region was not comparable to the support our colleagues in Jihlava and Zlín receive. And when the project of our planned House of Animation was cancelled by the Třeboň local authority, the situation even got worse.

Anifilm's  visual identity by Myhalyiová+Štumpf
The visual identity of Anifilm 2020 will be created by Slovak duo Michaela Mihalyiová and Dávid Štumpf. You may know Michaela’s unmistakeable artistic style from her successful short films and exercises ♥ City ♥, FOOD, Here and Here (Tu a tady) and A Date (Rande). She attracted attention with her film Sh_t Happens which she co-directed with Dávid Štumpf. This absurd comedy competed at this year’s Biennale in Venice and celebrated success at festivals all around the world. In the case of Anifilm, Michaela will once again join forces with Dávid – known for his acclaimed films Cowboyland (Země kovbojů) and Woo-Hoo – and together, they will create the festival’s new visual identity.
