‘AMAL’ Means Hope

Syrian puppeteer Walid Abo Rashed is a soothing voice amid the ruins.

I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be working with my friend, director Jesus Manuel Montane, providing animated sequences from Magic Dumpling Entertainment for the film AMAL: The Soothing Voice Among the Ruins, based on the plays of puppeteer Walid Abo Rashed, who since 2013 has been performing for children and their families on the war-torn streets of Syria.

Check out Montane’s announcement of the collaboration and my own statement on the project.

As Walid Abo Rashed so simply and eloquently states, every child deserves a little love and happiness in their life.
