Just when we thought that we had given our last Bay Area performance and
turned our creative talents to sorting through 20 years of our life, Gary
Meyer and the Balboa Theatre honored us by asking Nik and I to present two
special programs of our work. If you missed our Trinity Chapel performance
here is another chance to see and hear NIK AND THE SPROCKET ENSEMBLE before
we leave for Europe in April -- if you have never experienced our live
performance be sure not to miss MARCH 2 at the Balboa Theatres

TOONES & TUNES 7:00 PM

Nik and I will present animated films using music and sound in unusual and
diverse ways from the 1934 JOIE de VIVRE to the very contemporary BATHTIME
IN CLERKENWELL. Nik will provide live accompaniment to his original score
for Nina Paley's brilliant animation FETCH!. Nik, Nancy and noted animation
historian/writer Karl Cohen will offer added insights and answer questions
from the audience. Program is suitable for all ages -- children encouraged.

IDEAS IN ANIMATION 9:00 PM

Proving that animation is not just child's play, Nik and Nancy will present
a program of their favorite contemporary animation. Nik will lead the full
complement of the Sprocket Ensemble as they perform his original scores for
films created by favorite animators such as Russia's Ivan Maximov and New
York's Nina Paley. Nik and I will give special insights into the films and
their creators, and some special Sprocket Ensemble guest stars will join the
Ensemble

Also, Don't forget about the Balboa's BIRTHDAY BASH, on Monday, Feb. 27

The Birthday Bash features Rudolph Valentino in THE EAGLE with Nik Phelps
and Larry Dunlap providing an original musical score. Those who have heard
them play with silent films at the Balboa know that they're in for a treat
on Monday, Feb. 27. The vaudeville show features Suzanne "Kitten on the
Keys" Ramsey singing and playing piano plus magician extraordinaire James
Hamilton. Both are command return engagements with new acts to provide a
great time for all. Of course we'll have selected short subjects. And Diane
Boate is returning with a totally new Birthday Cake concept. She has
something unique cooking using Walkers Shortbread. They have baked
award-winning, delicious all natural shortbread for over 100 years in the
Highlands of Scotland where the Walkers family still owns and operates its
world-famous bakeries. Walkers products are sold at fine food stores across
the country and contain no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives and
are Kosher certified OUD.

Pull out your vintage clothing and mark the calendar. There are also some
great prizes. Kino Home Video has provided a selection of movies made in
1926..the year the Balboa opened. To help patrons celebrate the Balboa's
80th Birthday, Kino is offering some substantial discounts.
