The 47th edition of CINANIMA announces its official selection

After viewing more than 3,700 films from 123 countries, the Selection Jury has chosen 130 works for Cinemina 2023.

As promised, we won't let the month of August end without sharing with you some more news about the 47th edition of CINANIMA. So let's get to the point: the films in competition.

After viewing more than 3,700 films, from 123 countries, the Selection Jury chose 130 works, establishing a new record of films and countries presented in competition. 

98 works from 33 different nations will be included in the international competition, with France (13), the United Kingdom (8), and Israel (7), having the highest number of films chosen. This competition will show 22 hours' worth of animated films.

•             Short Films Competition: 57 films; 
•             International Feature Films Competition: 6 films; 
•             Student Films Competition: 35 films

The António Gaio Award and the Young Portuguese Filmmaker Award (which is divided into films made by children under 18 years of age and first films made by youngsters aged between 18 and 30), will present 32 films as part of the National Competition. This is an increase if we compare it to the 31 works screened in 2022, representing around four hours of Portuguese production.

•             National Competition: António Gaio Award: 13 films; 
•             National Competition: Young Portuguese Director Award (over 18 till 30 years of age): 9 films; 
•             National Competition: Young Portuguese Director Award (under 18 years of age): 10 films
