Outstanding Achievement for Directing in an Animated Television Production: Mark Gustafson

Outstanding Individual Achievement for Voice Acting in an Animated Television Productio: Eddie Murphy, as the voice of Thurgood Stubbs

Thurgood (voice by Eddie Murphy) and company are shocked to discover that the dead man in the penthouse above them is none other than Hilton Jacobs, the owner of their building. Jacobs bequeaths all his worldly possessions to his fellow project-dwellers, leaving them to wonder: who will inherit his spacious and luxurious digs? Per HUD policy, Thurgood holds a lottery to determine the lucky tenant and the Super is thrilled when his own name is chosen.

As Thurgood and Muriel (voiced by Loretta Devine) are movin' on up to their deluxe apartment in the sky, the Super's ego immediately swells. The other tenants even accuse him of being "bougie" and turn their backs on Thurgood. Even Muriel gets tired of his new high falootin' attitude and moves back down stairs, leaving Thurgood alone with his recliner and TV set. Bored and lonely, he falls asleep and drifts off to dreamland, where he is visited by the ghost of Hilton Jacobs. The spirit shows him how miserable his life will be if he stays holed up in the penthouse and shuts everyone out. Thurgood wakes up inspired and starts knocking down walls with a golf club. After some serious pounding, the Super turns his lofty apartment into something all the tenants can enjoy -- a new rec room.
