In which Chris Robinson asks animators profound and inane questions that have little to do with animation. Today's guest is English British UK animator and rocker, Jonathan Hodgson.
I Have a Question Jonathan Hodgson
Jonathan Hodgson is an internationally renowned, BAFTA winning animation director (Feeling my Way, The Man with the Beautiful Eyes, Forest Murmurs) based in London. He agreed to meet with me with a blistering smile on a pig farm in Motihari, India in late June.
I get the greatest pleasure from drunkenly riding my bike home from the pub on a warm summer’s night
If I could have – assuming this is your real name – a nom de plume, what would it be?
The Man With No Eyes
The sport I do or would like to play is any sport that I can play with my hands in my pockets
A (non-family member) person I idolize is....
I don’t idolize anyone, but I’ve got a lot of time for Ed Hooks
The song that makes me tingle is.... Robert Wyatt – “Shipbuilding”
The funniest thing that happened to me….
No one gets why this was funny, but one winter when I was a kid my dad, brother and me were walking down a busy high street and my Dad suddenly slipped on the ice and flamboyantly did the splits like a ballet dancer. He was in complete agony, but my brother and I were so paralytic with laughter that it didn’t even occur to us to help pick him up off the ground. It turned out that he’d torn a muscle and his leg never fully recovered so I feel quite bad about it now.
