Animate Charts and Graphs in Adobe After Effects with Red Giant Datamator

Red Giant Software, with popular products including Magic Bullet Suite, Knoll Light Factory and Trapcode Suite, has introduced Datamator a plug-in set for creating data-driven animations for news programs and corporate videos.

Red Giant Datamator (formerly Digital Anarchy Data Animator) turns charts and graphs into compelling animated masterpieces in After Effects. Datamator includes a set of eight plug-ins that make it easier for videographers to create graphs and charts directly in After Effects instead of using PowerPoint or re-creating graphics from scratch.

Pixel Magic Seasons Up Marley & Me

Pixel Magic completed 150 visual effects shots in the film MARLEY & ME. 20th Century Fox released this big screen adaptation of THE NEW YORK TIMES bestseller by columnist John Grogan on Christmas Day, 2008. The film quickly reached the top of the box office charts, grossing more than $120 million by its third week of release.

The autobiographical story recounts the Grogan family's life with Marley, a large, unruly Labrador retriever. Through their experiences with Marley, the Grogans learned many key lessons on family life and happiness.

Post-production facility Post Logic Studios, a division of Prime Focus Group, has hired colorist Craig Budrick. Budrick is an industry veteran with nearly two decades' experience as a colorist. He joins Post Logic from Technicolor, where for the last two years he worked on remastering feature film projects for Blu-ray, including AIRPLANE, WAYNE'S WORLD and PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES.

Bebop Anime Film Adaptation Gets Keanu

Keanu Reeves is attached to star in a live-action adaptation of Japanese anime TV series COWBOY BEBOP for Twentieth Century Fox, according to VARIETY.

Reeves would reunite with THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL producer Erwin Stoff (through his 3 Arts banner) and would play the role of Spike Spiegel, an adventurous bounty hunter traveling through space circa 2071. Spiegel and his fellow bounty hunters travel via spaceship, the Bebop.

Screenplay is being penned by Peter Craig and Joshua Long is exec producing.

Tuesday Watchmen Hearing Canceled

A court conference that was scheduled for today between Fox and Warner Bros. has been canceled, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, with rumors circulating that the long-gestating WATCHMEN case is finally settled or nearing settlement.

U.S. District Judge Gary A. Feess ruled in December that Fox has distribution rights to the film WB made and is planning on a March 6 release, and the two studios have been meeting since Friday to settle.

Emily Blunt Rumored For Black Widow in Iron Man 2

Emily Blunt, who will be seen next in Universal's THE WOLF MAN, has emerged as a frontrunner to play the role of Natasha Romanoff in IRON MAN 2, per VARIETY.

The character is a Soviet spy who doubles as Black Widow, who wears a skintight black costume enhanced by high-tech weapons. Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell are negotiating to play the two key villains in the Marvel Ent. production set for a summer 2010 release from Paramount.

Marvel did not comment on casting for Black Widow. Justin Theroux is writing the script that Jon Favreau will direct.

Stanton Confirms John Carter to be Live Action

Andrew Stanton told SCI FI WIRE that his next project (under Disney, not Pixar) JOHN CARTER OF MARS, will be his first live-action film.

"[I'm] deep into it," Stanton said in an exclusive interview at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association award ceremony in Century City, Calif., on Monday, where he accepted the award for best picture of 2008 for WALL-E. "I'm on my next draft of it. We're in preproduction art-wise, and we're starting to talk to actors. So it's full bore."

WB, Fox Working on Watchmen Settlement, Producers Weigh In

Warner Bros. and Fox are actively working toward a settlement over the WATCHMEN distribution rights case, according to news reports.

The attorneys for both studios agreed Friday to delay a federal court hearing until Monday so that settlement discussions can continue over the weekend. U.S. District Court Judge Gary Feess had been scheduled to rule on WB's request for an expedited hearing on the main issue: whether to block WATCHMEN from theatrical release on March 6, as Fox is requesting.

But sources say that Disney and Walden disagreed on the release date for PRINCE CASPIAN from the start.
