Rising Sun Pictures has commenced the search for its next CEO as it enters a new growth phase. Current CEO Didier Elzinga will be stepping back after five years at the helm, and 13 years in total with the company, to spend more time on other projects.

Didier said, "After being entrusted with the direction of this innovative company for five years, I am excited and confident in the future, knowing our current leadership team is strong and ready to grow to take RSP forward."

Zachary Levi Joins Chipmunks Squeakquel

The title character of NBC's CHUCK, Zachary Levi, has joined the cast of Fox 2000's ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: THE SQUEAKQUEL, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Levi will play Jason Lee's character's cousin, who get caught up in the shenanigans of the CG-animated rodents, voiced again by Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney.

Mechanism Digital accepted the design challenge to develop a memorable show open and graphics package for Animal Planet's new series BEHIND THE CLIP. The show is produced by CBS Eye Too, who in turn came to rely on Mechanism's design team to create a quirky and fresh concept for a new show featuring animals skateboarding, driving a car and other surprising activities found on YouTube clips.

USA Network Licenses Universal Pictures 2009 Film Slate

USA Network has acquired the exclusive network television premiere rights to the 2009 Universal Pictures' film slate.

The deal is considered to be one of the largest of its kind between a film studio and basic cable network. The package includes Universal's biggest tentpole movies for 2009 with some of the most commercially viable film properties attached to the slate. Terms of the deal were not announced.

Nolan, WB Reteam for Sci-Fi Actioner Inception

Christopher Nolan, the director and co-writer of the critically lauded summer blockbuster THE DARK KNIGHT, will helm INCEPTION for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Nolan also wrote the original screenplay for INCEPTION, which is described as a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind. The film will be produced by Nolan and his longtime producing partner Emma Thomas, who served as a producer on THE DARK KNIGHT.

INCEPTION will go into production this summer and is being planned for release in the summer of 2010.

Tom Cruise is in final negotiations to play Russian spy Vasili Taleniekov in MGM's high-tech thriller THE MATARESE CIRCLE, from Robert Ludlum's novel, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Denzel Washington is set to play U.S. intelligence operative Brandon Scofield, the mortal enemy of Taleniekov. David Cronenberg (EASTERN PROMISES) will direct the potential franchise-launcher.

Concrete has just completed 3D post-production work for an introductory title sequence which leads into the latest BBC ONE Panorama documentary titled TAX ME IF YOU CAN, presented by Jeremy Vine. The program, which explores the hidden world of tax evasion in havens such as the Channel Islands and the Bahamas in the context of the current global crisis, was produced and directed by BBC's Howard Bradburn. The title sequence was overseen, directed and designed by Senior Creative Designer Morgan Sendall based at Concrete.

Benjamin Button Wins VFX BAFTA Award

THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON won the BAFTA award for Special Visual Effects over THE DARK KNIGHT, INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, IRON MAN and QUANTUM OF SOLACE.

The 2009 BAFTA Film Awards were held on February 8 at London's Royal Opera House.

WALL-E beat out PERSEPOLIS and WALTZ WITH BASHIR for the BAFTA award for Animated Film.

The Pixar film lost out to SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE in the Music and Sound categories.
