IMAX Signs Theatre Deal With Big Cinemas in India

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL star Shia LaBeouf told BBC News that a sequel to the 2008 summer hit is a go (via ComingSoon.net).

"Steven [Spielberg] just said that he cracked the story on it before I left and I think they're gearing that up," LaBeouf said. CRYSTAL SKULL, despite middling reviews, banked a worldwide gross of $786.6 million at the box office, the second place earner behind THE DARK KNIGHT.

Natalie Portman Added to Black Swan Cast

Natalie Portman has been signed on to play the lead in Darren Aronofsky's BLACK SWAN supernatural thriller, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

The film, set up at Universal since 2007, and based in the world of New York City ballet, has been changed a bit in the last two years. Universal put the film in turnaround and has been making the rounds at the studios and specialty divisions. Development exec at Aronofsky's Protozoa Pictures, Mark Heyman, has done a re-write of John McLaughlin's original script. Mike Medavoy's Phoenix Pictures and Protozoa are producing.

Writer Haimes Hired for Family History

Screenwriter Marc Haimes has been hired by Fox to pen adventure script FAMILY HISTORY, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Described as NATIONAL TREASURE meets BACK TO THE FUTURE, the film has been shepherded by producers Cormac & Marianne Wibberley, who co-wrote the two NATIONAL TREASURE films for Disney. Michael Punke originally wrote the script.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY's Michael Ausiello reports that Noah Wyle has been hired to headline Steven Spielberg's untitled alien-invasion pilot for TNT.

The series was announced last month at TNT's upfront presentations. The story takes place six months after evil aliens decimate mankind, while Wyle would play the leader of a group of citizens trying to take down the extra terrestrials.
