Del Toro Reteams for Julia’s Eyes

Guillermo Del Toro will produce the Spanish-language thriller JULIA’S EYES with his THE ORPHANAGE collaborator, Rodar y Rodar reports Variety.

JULIA’S EYES will be helmed by Guillem Morales, also the co-screenwriter with Oriol Paulo. Cameras will begin rolling Oct 5. Rodar's Joaquin Padro and Mar Targarona will produce as co-financed by Focus Features Intl.

STYD has learned Sony's Screen Gems is prepping a fourth UNDERWORLD film. Rumored to be shot in 3D, UNDERWORLD 4 may target a January 2011 theatrical release.

Unconfirmed, is whether UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCENS stars Michael Sheen or Bill Nighy will return. Producers could bring Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman back for more action.

Ex-Banker Turns Producer for Top Cat Movie

Producer Alex Garcia plans to bring the Hanna-Barbara TV cartoon, TOP CAT, to new life reports Variety.

Garcia will pair with Anima Studios for the animated feature as WB preps for a summer 2011 or 2012 release across Latin America. The former finance exec. has also partnered with Santa Barbara-based Nala Films, the Rovzar Bros.' Lemon Films in Mexico and Argentina's Costa Films.

Garcia’s grandfather, Arturo de Cordova, was a screen icon from Mexico’s Golden Age.

Chou is The Green Hornet’s New Kato

Asian actor/singer, Jay Chou, will replace Stephen Chow as Kato in THE GREEN HORNET. According to the HollywoodReporter Chou and Seth Rogen are confirmed to be the new crime-fighting team for Columbia’s THE GREEN HORNET, under Michel Gondry’s direction.

Chou, born in Taiwan, transitioned from singer to actor with a lead role in the 2005 comedy, INITIAL D. In 2006, he appeared in CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER, alongside Chow Yun-Fat and Gong Li.

Taking the #1 spot, G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA (Paramount, with vfx by CIS Hollywood, Digital Domain, HPI and Lidar Services) earned a whopping $56.2M.

JULIE & JULIA (Sony, vfx by Brainstorm Digital) made an impressive debut at #2, bringing in $20.1M.

In the #3 position, G-FORCE (Buena Vista, with vfx by Asylum VFX, Hatch Production and Sony Pictures Imageworks) earned $9.8M -- down 44%. G-FORCE has earned $86.M to date.

The Lovely Bones Trailer Online

Apple has posted the first trailer to Peter Jackson’s live-action feature, THE LOVELY BONES. Based on a novel by Alice Sebold, the story follows a young girl who views the aftermath of her untimely death and attempts to communicate the slain body’s whereabouts. The cast includes Susan Sarandon, Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Rachel Weisz and Saoirse Ronan. The film arrives in theaters on December 11, 2009.

Stephen J. Davis is new President of Hasbro TV Show Studios. Variety reports the former Granada America leader will seek outside creators and oversee shows based on key Hasbro brands including TRIVIAL PURSUIT and MY LITTLE PONY. WATCHMEN star, Carla Gugino, is back to work for Zack Snyder. The HollywoodReporter notes Gugino is onboard for Warner Bros.’ SUCKER PUNCH, an action-fantasy film. Orphanage Lands Director for Remake

Cult director/actor Larry Fessenden has been tapped to helm the English remake of THE ORPHANAGE for New Line. The original, a Spanish-language horror film produced by Guillermo del Toro, was released in 2007. Fessenden and del Toro have also penned the script together writes the HollywoodReporter.

THE ORPHANGE tells the story of a woman who returns to her group home and is haunted by surreal images.
