Asian actor/singer, Jay Chou, will replace Stephen Chow as Kato in THE GREEN HORNET. According to the HollywoodReporter Chou and Seth Rogen are confirmed to be the new crime-fighting team for Columbia’s THE GREEN HORNET, under Michel Gondry’s direction.
Chou, born in Taiwan, transitioned from singer to actor with a lead role in the 2005 comedy, INITIAL D. In 2006, he appeared in CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER, alongside Chow Yun-Fat and Gong Li.

Apple has posted the first trailer to Peter Jackson’s live-action feature, THE LOVELY BONES. Based on a novel by Alice Sebold, the story follows a young girl who views the aftermath of her untimely death and attempts to communicate the slain body’s whereabouts. The cast includes Susan Sarandon, Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Rachel Weisz and Saoirse Ronan. The film arrives in theaters on December 11, 2009.

Stephen J. Davis is new President of Hasbro TV Show Studios. Variety reports the former Granada America leader will seek outside creators and oversee shows based on key Hasbro brands including TRIVIAL PURSUIT and MY LITTLE PONY. The new channel, a joint effort with Discovery Communications will launch in fall 2010.
Jodelle Ferland is the newest cast member onboard for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE reports Variety. David Slade is directing the third film in the series, due in theaters 2010. Ferland will appear in the upcoming CASE 39 and THE CABIN IN THE WOODS.
Warner Independent’s remake of Bruce Lee’s ENTER THE DRAGON is picking-up steam. The noir-style redo entitled AWAKEN THE DRAGON involves a renegade Shaolin monk being pursued by an FBI agent. The Latino Review reports Warner is eyeing NINJA ASSASSIN’s Rain for the lead. THE SHIELD’s exec producer Kurt Sutter will write and direct.
WATCHMEN star, Carla Gugino, is back to work for Zack Snyder. The HollywoodReporter notes Gugino is onboard for Warner Bros.’ SUCKER PUNCH, an action-fantasy film. Snyder also penned the surreal script set in a mental hospital. Gugino will play a staffer inside the institution. The cast includes Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens and Jena Malone. A Vancouver shoot is slated for fall.
Hugh Jackman will portray big top great P.T. Barnum for Twentieth Century Fox. Variety reports THE GREATEST SHOWMAN ON EARTH will be a modern musical with SEX AND THE CITY writer Jenny Bicks onboard. British songstress Mika is in early talks to pen the lyrics and score. Barnum’s real-life love, the Swedish Nightingale, will play a major role in the final script.
Director Renny Harlin relives the historic Russia-Georgia incident. During the brief 2008 war, Georgian troops attacked the South Ossetia border triggering a Russian backlash. Variety reports the un-titled drama shoots in September, taking the crew to some true-life locales. Roles now casting include an American journalist and his cameraman caught in the crosshairs.
Variety reports Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way has scribe David Johnson developing a darker take on LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD. The Warner-based Appian Way is keeping close to Johnson, who previously penned ORPHAN. DiCaprio is not expected to join the un-named cast. Johnson’s re-imagining of the Brothers Grimm tale will explore more its werewolf undertones.
Cult director/actor Larry Fessenden has been tapped to helm the English remake of THE ORPHANAGE for New Line. The original, a Spanish-language horror film produced by Guillermo del Toro, was released in 2007. Fessenden and del Toro have also penned the script together writes the HollywoodReporter.
THE ORPHANGE tells the story of a woman who returns to her group home and is haunted by surreal images.
