MTV Networks' Tom Freston, Personality Of The Year For MIPCOM 2001

Reed Midem Organisation has named MTV Networks' chairman and chief executive officer, Tom Freston, the personality of the year for the 18th MIPCOM, the International Film and Program Market for TV, Video, Cable and Satellite. The award celebrates MTV Networks' outstanding leadership and creative contributions to the global entertainment marketplace among the MTV, VH1 and Nickelodeon brands as MTV celebrates its 20th anniversary. MIPCOM hits Cannes, France on October 8 - 12, 2001.

Anima Mundi 2001 took place from Friday, July 13 - Monday, July 23, 2001 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil then moved to São Paulo, Brazil from Wednesday, July 25 - Sunday, July 29, 2001. The major animation festival in South America, Anima Mundi included a wide range of open activities, including workshops, lectures and exhibitions. Sneak Peek Of Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis At WAC

The World Animation, August 7-12, 2001, is proud to announce a new show added to its ambitious schedule. Sony Pictures Entertainment will host a "sneak peek" of Osamu Tezuka's "Metropolis." Based on the classic manga by Osamu Tezuka, the godfather of anime and manga, "Metropolis" was brought to the screen by two of the most respected figures in Japanese animation today: Katsuhiro Otomo ("Akira") and Rintaro ("X," "Galaxy Express 999"). In fact, Rintaro began his career working for Tezuka on his popular "Astro Boy" (Tetsuwan Atom) television series.
