Child's Play
Child's Play covers the milestones which should be observed in the development of all young children from birth to age five. Again presented in the same colorful style as Safe Motherhood and using the same characters, the film is designed to introduce new parents to the subject of early childhood development and help them to be aware of the signs to look for in their child's most formative years.
The creative process of developing a storyboard was similar to that undertaken for Safe Motherhood. However, both artists and target audiences involved in focus group discussions highlighted the specific difficulties in condensing so much information into a short 4-minute production. It was therefore decided to concentrate on only a few of the key areas relevant to the Caribbean situation. The issue of physical punishment was highlighted as being a significant area for attention. Narration to the film is given by the child's boastful mother who heralds the achievements of her growing son. Again, careful consideration was given to the style and the look of the film to make it complimentary to the first in the series.[upper level | home]
