On September 25, 1928, Felix von Armstadt, one of the richest men in the world,
perished in Egypt in a gruesome attack on his life. The murder of the German oil
tycoon was a complete mystery and shocked the business world, as well as the
international elite. The most disturbing and mysterious circumstance surrounding Von Armstadt's tragedy was the disappearance of his wife, the socialite Emmy Buckingham Parker. Treated at first as a possible kidnapping, later on it was widely speculated Emmy orchestrated her husband's sad fate. However, a request for ransom was never made, nor did Emmy ever return to claim the Von Armstadt estate. The families Von Armstadt and Buckingham Parker, who each for reasons of their own had never approved of the liaison between the elderly Felix and his much younger wife, overcame their differences and mounted an extensive investigation.
