The Second Annual Naughty Animation Show
February 2005
This year's titillating Naughty Animation Show promises to be a night to remember! The popularity of last year's screening has encouraged TAIS to develop this night into a full-blown event. One of the new components of this year's Naughty show will be a 'Peinture-en Direct' auction where a group of 10 animators will create original drawings and animations on- site that will be sold as the work is created. There is even talk of a little burlesque - meow.
The Animator's Incubator(on-going)
The Animator's Incubator is a monthly meeting where independent animators can work on their own projects, show animation in progress or collaborate with other animators on short animated films. Bring your works in progress. This is a chance to spend some time working on your storyboard or artwork or getting feedback and advice from other animators. The TAIS centre's computers & VCR will be available if you want to show your stuff.
Anijam!(on-going)
An activity rooted in the 'exquisite corpse' experiments of the Surrealists; this event brings animators together to create collective animated works. This event will permit animators to work at both the TAIS centre as well as other artist-friendly spaces. This is a fun way to meet other animators and artists as well as get out from behind the computer
Cameraless Animation Club - co-presented with LIFT(on-going)
TAIS and LIFT are planning a new club that will bring together animators and filmmakers interested in directly animating film by hand. This activity involves painting, collaging, drawing, and scratching directly onto the filmstrip in the tradition of artists such as Norman McLaren.
We've got tons of other great stuff in the works - check out the e-bulletin for updates on these and other new events. Not getting the e-bulletin? Perhaps it's time to become a member of TAIS!
