Voltron Ignites Legal Battle

Producers James Young, Ford Oelman and Mark Costa have filed a lawsuit in L.A. against St. Louis-based World Events and Kickstart Prods. alleging that they illegally worked out VOLTRON deals during their exclusive rights window, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Bruckheimer Enlists World War Robot

Jerry Bruckheimer has acquired the right to IDW Publishing's graphic novel WORLD WAR ROBOT, reports VARIETY. Written by Ashley Wood, the story is presented in the form of war journals from a war between humans and robots that stretches from Earth to the moon to Mars.

Wood and IDW head Ted Adams are set to exec produce.

World War Z Gets New Writer

FANGORIA reports that the screen adaptation of Max Brooks' WORLD WAR Z has a new screenwriter. Matthew Michael Carnahan, who penned STATE OF PLAY and THE KINGDOM, is now writing the story of a U.N. Postwar Commission as the interview the survivors of a zombie war that destroyed all nations. Previously, CHANGELING and BABYLON 5 writer J. Michael Straczynski was adapting the novel.

Activision's Little League World Series Hits

Activision announced today that LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES BASEBALL 2009 is out now for Wii and Nintendo DS. The game was produced by Japanese developer NOW Production. Players will have the chance to become a Little League World Series baseball Champion, or play with up to three other friends in a variety of exhibition and skill modes.

Viz Pictures Teams With Trans World To Promote Death Note: L, change the WorLd

Fox to Imagine a World Without Us

Twentieth Century Fox has purchased the film rights to environmental novel THE WORLD WITHOUT US, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Alan Weisman's nonfiction book about what Earth would look like if humans were to suddenly disappear has been a critical and financial success.

Fox is looking to take the material, based in science, and create a fiction tale around it. The book explores, through interviews and research, how buildings and houses would disappear, how long man-made objects would last and how waste and pollutants would dissipate.

Elmo, New Danish Friend to Host Sesame Block on TV 2 in Denmark

Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organization behind SESAME STREET, is stamping its passport and traveling to Denmark with localized SESAME programming this fall on public broadcaster TV 2. The new block will include programs PLAY WITH ME SESAME, ELMO'S WORLD and interstitials with SESAME STREET's fairy-in-training Abby Cadabby. The block is scheduled to premiere September 2009 and will be hosted by Denmark's own Elmo and his new Danish friend.
