The Clayton Brothers Go Looking for Bliss

Culver City creative studio, SALT, was tagged to bring still art to life, starting with the work of ethereal duo, The Clayton Brothers. The spot was created for alternative sports programmer FUEL TV.

"When FUEL TV gave us the go ahead to work with Rob and Christian, we couldn't have been happier," said SALT creative director, Ian Douglass. "And when we started brainstorming animation possibilities with [the Clayton Brothers], we immediately agreed on an animation style and pacing that seemed like the most natural extension of the still work."

LipSync Post Creates Magical VFX for The Secret of Moonacre

LipSync Post has completed the DI and 70 VFX shots for the forthcoming feature film THE SECRET OF MOONACRE. Directed by Gabor Csupo (BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA), the film tells the story of a 13-year-old's adventure into a magical world from which she must banish an ancient curse. The majority of LipSync's work focused on a mystical string of "moon pearls" that are key to the film's plot.

Expanding their feature film credits, Rhinofx recently completed the vfx work for The Weinstein Company's feature, THE READER, starring Ray Fiennes and Kate Winslet. The film tells a complex story of post-WWII Germany, with the secrets and mysteries of the Nazi-era unraveling across four decades.

ASIFA-SF's Annual Open Screening for Animators And Studios

This will be an evening of new work by local artists and friends from around the globe. Anyone is welcome to bring animated/special effects work unannounced the night of the show (DVD and 16 mm) and it will be shown. Wednesday, January 14, 7:15 p.m. at the Exploratorium's McBean Theatre in San Francisco, free, public invited. The open screening for student films will be in May.

Double Negative to Open VFX Studio in Singapore

U.K. vfx company Double Negative will open an office in Singapore by March of 2009, according to Singapore newspaper THE STRAITS TIMES.

Animators and designers in the Singapore studio will work on projects like HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRICE, and start with a staff of about a dozen. Double Negative's recent credits include THE DARK KNIGHT, QUANTUM OF SOLACE and HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY.

Orlando ACM SIGGRAPH hosts Disney-Pixar's Craig Good And WALL-E

Craig Good will be discussing his experience working as a cinematographer at Pixar, focusing on their most recent feature, WALL-E. The presentation will be followed by a free screening of the film, with a Q&A session at the conclusion of the movie.

Introducing The New Loose Moose

Loose Moose Productions, the new incarnation of the London based, stop-motion, puppet and CG animation company, was created following Ken Lidster's departure to work on a feature film at Laika in Portland, Oregon. The new company was launched with an array of established and young talent, including four new directors.

Referring to the new line up, Executive Producer Glenn Holberton said, "The injection of new directors and designers has created a real buzz and sense of purpose, galvanizing the whole team."

Finish Sways To The Kooks' Latest Music Video

Byron Wooffindin of Finish just completed the post on the new single SWAY by The Kooks.

Directed by Marco Puig of Amarillo Films, it is an intense song about loss, which is showed physically through the metaphor of a room ripping itself apart. Taken from their acclaimed second album KONK, SWAY has been shot in black and white, on grainy stock to match the emotions and drama of the song.
