The winners of the 2008 NAViGaTR Awards were announced Monday, revealing the winners in 44 categories. Multiple awards went to Andrew Lackey, Claire Boissiere, Dave Feise, David Smith, David Swenson, Luci Black, Mark Healey, Martin Lynagh, and Michelle Ducker, which are three more than last year.

WALL-E won Best Sound Editing in Animated Features from the Motion Picture Sound Editors on Saturday in Los Angeles, who also honored the man behind the robot, Ben Burtt, with their Career Achievement Award.
THE DARK KNIGHT, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON and MAMMA MIA! were also honored.

Toei Goes Digital, Adds Postproduction & Sound Stage
Tokyo-based animation and live-action producer and distributor Toei will spend $55 million on renovating and digitalizing their studio, per VARIETY.
The studio, in Tokyo's Nerima Ward, is four-story, 51,161 square feet facility for films, TV and animation production by their group companies. A highlight of the revamp is a new digital postproduction center to process images and sound, including advanced CG and 3-D work.
Sounds of WALL-E with Ben Burtt
It seems that Pixar Animation Studios outdo themselves with every film, and WALL-E is no exception. Directed by Andrew Stanton, and one of the year's most acclaimed films, this extraordinary animated feature combines comedy, romance and a stirring environmental message. Incidentally, it also managed to make a movie star out of a garbage-collecting robot. A share of the credit for WALL-E's stardom goes to Ben Burtt, the film's character voice designer and sound designer who played the voice of WALL-E himself.
