The Art Institute Online to Teach Courses in Second Life

The Art Institute Online, a division of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, has opened a student campus in Second Life, a virtual online community, to teach a new Business Communications course. The faculty realized students would be interested in learning in a virtual 3D environment, which would also serve for the course's development.

Lionsgate & HABBO Go Viral to Decide Fate of Animated Feature

Lionsgate (HAPPILY N'EVER AFTER) goes viral this month in a partnership with HABBO to determine the fate of a HABBO animated release. Utilizing this interactive technology, Lionsgate will tap directly into HABBO's extensive online community of teens for feedback. Starting Jan. 15, "Habbos" will be able to view 10 very different animated shorts based on the Habbo World, which will be posted on and local Habbo sites around the world and voted on by the millions of registered users of these sites.

Vivendi Games announced today (Sept. 28, 2006) it has purchased two development studios, Secret Lair Studios, located in Issaquah, Washington, and Studio Ch'in in Shanghai, China. The Studio Ch'in purchase is subject to the approval the People's Republic of China under Chinese Law, and Vivendi Games is in the process of obtaining such required approval. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
