UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION continues the war between vampires and werewolves in director Len Wisemans sequel starring wife Kate Beckinsale. This widescreen special edition DVD (Sony Pictures Home Ent., $28.95) was released June 6, 2006. As reported on VFXWORLD by Alain Bielik, Luma Pictures raised the vfx bar this time out, resulting in a pipeline shift and greater reliance on ZBrush for modeling. DIC Ent. has been appointed the global entertainment licensing agent for Zizzle Toys new, innovative musical icon iZ. As part of the licensing initiative, DIC will translate the toy into animated direct-to-DVD movies.
A new music video, with animation by Bill Plympton, will be premiering on MTV on Monday, Nov. 21, 2005. The video is for a song called "Heard 'Em Say" by Kanye West, and should air during TRL on MTV on Monday afternoon. Plymptons third music video, and perhaps the most high profile one he's worked on, depicts Kanye as a mythical urban cabdriver.

Disney's LITTLE EINSTEINS, an innovative new TV series for toddlers, emanating from the popular videos and CDs from The Baby Einstein Co., will premiere in October 2005 during the daily Playhouse Disney programming block on Disney Channel. The series and a Disney DVD/video release in August will build on the cachet of the infant/preschool brand Baby Einstein.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Assoc. announced the nominations for the 62nd Annual Golden Globe Awards on Dec. 13, 2004, at 5.30 am PST. Animation fans will be happy to know that THE INCREDIBLES landed a nomination in the Best Motion Picture -- Musical or Comedy category. Toons have won the category before TOY STORY 2 took the award in 2000.
AOL Music has premiered the new video from Grammy Award-winning artists Destinys Child for their version of the holiday classic RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER. The video transports the super group to the North Pole and animates them with the same stop-motion techniques used in Rankin & Bass RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER. Destinys Child recorded the single for an exclusive bonus CD included within the special 40th Anniversary Collectors Edition RUDOLPH DVD from Classic Media and Sony Wonder.
