Headline News The Simpsons to Celebrate 20th Anniversary at MIPCOM

Paris, 9 June 2009 -- THE SIMPSONS, the longest-running primetime TV series in history, will celebrate its 20th anniversary at MIPCOM 2009. In partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution which handles international distribution for the show, MIPCOM will hold a series of events to mark THE SIMPSONS global success over the past two decades.

Headline News Record Participation At MIPCOM 2008

The 24th MIPCOM recorded its highest attendance figure of all time, driven notably by an increase in attendance from the "METRIC" countries and regions (Middle East, Turkey, Russia, India and China), as well as Ukraine.

At the close of the market on October 17, MIPCOM 2008 totaled 13,588 participants, an increase of 1.6% over the 13,371 industry professionals who attended in 2007. A total of 4,519 companies from 103 countries registered, of which 1,779 were exhibitors. The number of international buyers grew by 7.2%, from 4,242 in 2007 to 4,573 this year.

Headline News Amita Of The Jungle Goes To MIPCOM

Lastrego & Testa will present all 26 episodes of its new TV series AMITA OF THE JUNGLE (26x7) in HD, co-produced with RAI Fiction, at MIPCOM.

The project won a nomination to the Pulcinella Awards at Cartoons On the Bay 2008 in the category Best TV Series for Children and it is in competition for the 38th edition of Roshd Festival in Tehran.

The series is about the adventures of a child who lives in a magic world where men and animals can still speak together, bringing a contemporary moral based on sympathy, altruism and cooperation.

Headline News Tudou Chief To Reveal Web Entertainment Future In China At MIPCOM 2008

Gary Wang, founder and CEO of Tudou, China's leading video sharing platform, will deliver a keynote at MIPCOM 2008. The address will be given on Thursday, October 16 within the framework of a day of debate dedicated to the convergence between TV, video sharing online communities and video games. The 24th edition of MIPCOM runs October 13-17 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.

4Kids Ent. has set MIPCOM 2008 for the premiere of 26 all-new half-hour episodes of DINOSAUR KING.

The global broadcast line-up for DINOSAUR KING series includes Mediaset (Italy), RTL2 (Germany), France 3 (France), Canal J (France), TV2 (Denmark), TV4 (Sweden), MTV 3 (Finland), TVI (Portugal), LNK (Lithuania), Neljas (Estonia), Jetix (UK, Scandinavia, Spain and Latin America), MNET (South Africa) and YTV (Canada) among many others. New markets expected to close at MIPCOM include the U.K., Ireland, Australia and a number of central European countries.

Headline News Nickelodeon President Cyma Zarghami To Keynote At MIPCOM Junior

Cyma Zarghami, President of Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group, will present the MIPCOM Junior 2008 Keynote on Sunday October 12. The 16th edition of MIPCOM Junior, the specialist international screening marketplace and conference for children's programming and merchandising will be held on the October 11-12 at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes, France.

During her address, Zarghami will share her vision of how the localization of global hit creative properties can result in a stronger worldwide brand presence.

Headline News NFB Scores Big at Record-Breaking MIPCOM

The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) wrapped up MIPCOM 2007 -- the best-attended edition since the audiovisual market's founding -- with a rich array of sales of new animation, as well as titles from the board's extensive archives. Multi-award-winning MADAME TUTLI-PUTLI was snatched up by Canal + France, ARTE, and Swizerland's TSR. Canal + Spain and TSR also acquired the audience favorite SLEEPING BETTY, while YLE (Finland) bought three shorts from the NFB's TALESPINNERS children's collection: ASTHMA TECH, THE GIRL WHO HATED BOOKS and JAIME LO, SMALL AND SHY.

Monster Distributes is bringing three new acquisitions to MIPCOM and will be screening a number of other programs at MIPCOM Jr.

BANJO THE WOODPILE CAT (1x30), originally released in 1982, was the first independent production from legendary animator Don Bluth (THE SECRET OF NIMH, AN AMERICAN TALE, THE LAND BEFORE TIME, ANASTASIA). This is the first time that the fully restored film has been available to TV and DVD in both HD and standard-def.

Headline News Studio B Walks Dogs and Kats to MIPCOM

Studio B Productions has signed a production order for 26 episodes of KID VS. KAT, a 26x22 comedy series for kids 6-11 about the exaggerated conflict between a demonically malevolent cat and the beleaguered ten-year-old boy who has become its unwitting nemesis. The property was developed internally at Studio B and originated from a short titled LOOK WHAT MY SISTER DRAGGED IN that screened at MIPCOM Jr. in 2006. The series is currently in production with YTV for a Fall 2008 launch.

Headline News Disney Channel Pres Ross To Keynote At MIPCOM Jr. 2007

Rich Ross, President of Disney Channel Worldwide, will present a keynote address on the second day of MIPCOM Junior, which will be held on the Oct. 6-7, 207, at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes.

Rich Ross, who has been with The Walt Disney Co. for 11 years, manages the company's successful and burgeoning global kids' TV business, a total of 67 channel feeds around the world. He is a key member of the team behind the HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL franchise. Ross will share the reasons behind the channel's phenomenal success during his keynote speech at MIPCOM.

Headline News Monster Launches Edgy Anna and the Moods at MIPCOM

Monster Distributes launched CAOZ�s edgy 3D animated film, ANNA AND THE MOODS at MIPCOM.

ANNA AND THE MOODS is written by Academy Award-nominated Icelandic writer Sj�n on a commission by the Brodsky Quartet. Julian Nott, composer of WALLACE AND GROMIT, sets Sj�n's story to music. The Brodsky Quartet has performed a musical version of the work on live tours in the UK, with Sj�n performing the story. Voices are by Bjork, Damon Albarn, Terry Jones, Sjon and Thorunn Laurusdottir.

Results airing coming out of MIPCOM Jr. with Millimages and Method Films SKYLAND topping the list of the most requested series at the event, taking place in Cannes, France. The series holds the top two spots with Millimages screenings at #1 and Method Films at #2. Marathons TEAM GALAXY come in third followed by Planet Nemos BALI at #4. Rounding out the top ten were BRBs BERNARD, Warner Bros. BEN 10, Animation Collective and MTVs KAPPA MIKEY and Breakthrough Ent.s CAPTAIN FLAMINGO.
