More MegaMan To Come To Kids’ WB!

Kids' WB! and ShoPro Ent. are teaming up for the third season of MEGAMAN NT WARRIOR: AXESS, for the 2004-05 season. The network has ordered 30 never-before-seen episodes of the Japanese animated series that will begin airing in spring 2005. The third season order brings the total commitment of the series to 80 episodes.

Discovery Kids on NBC Returns This Fall with New Show

Discovery Kids on NBC got a jump-start on its fall season lineup over the Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 4, 2004) in the U.S., rolling out new episodes of some of its popular Saturday morning series and starting, Oct. 2, a brand new series from the producer of LIZZIE MCGUIRE called, DARCY'S WILD LIFE.

DARCY'S WILD LIFE is new live-action comedy series that follows the antics of a teenage girl who has been transplanted to a rural farm with her movie-star mom. The series premieres on Oct. 2 and will air weekly from 12:30-1:00 pm ET/10:30-11:00 am PT.

Nickelodeon Online Launches Dot Kids Domain Websites

Nickelodeon launched two new Websites today, July 14, 2004, as part of the Dot Kids Act, established in 2002 to ensure safe spaces on the Internet for children under 13. The new site for kids, www.nick.kids.us/ and for parents and preschoolers, www.nickjr.kids.us/, have been created by the network as extensions of www.nick.com/ and www.nickjr.com/, respectively, as additional safe places for kids and preschoolers to play on the Internet.

Nat Geo Kids’ Takes Adventures in Color

National Geographic Television & Films (NGT&F) Kids Programming and Production unit has optioned the acclaimed childrens book series, ADVENTURES IN COLOR, to develop and produce an animated television series.

NGT&F is working with Emmy Award-winning animation director/producer Ron Myrick and the original author/designer Tony Porto plus his team creative firm Three Communication Design (3CD) to develop this unique multimedia series.

Marathon Gets First Look Deal From FKE

Fox Kids Europe N.V. (FKE) has signed an exclusive first look agreement with French animation studio Marathon, for its future childrens animated production output. Under the terms of the agreement, FKE and Marathon will co-develop and co-produce a minimum of three 52-episode series, adding at least 156 fresh, new, half-hour episodes to the programming lineup of FKEs pan- European network of channels.

Codename: Kids Next Door Returns for Third Season on Cartoon Network

CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOOR returns May 21, 2004 for its third season on Cartoon Network with new episodes to air at 7:00 pm with an encore at 10:00 pm on Fridays. The Kids Next Door will face some truly fearsome challenges, like the Homework Bandits, the power-mad Headmistress Margaret and their archenemies, the Delightful Children from Down the Lane.

Hasbro Opens Up Shrek 2 Toy Box

Hasbro Inc. welcomes Shrek and friends back with a full line of SHREK 2 plush, playsets, figures and games available in spring 2004 at retail stores in the U.S.

The Hasbro's SHREK 2 line includes WISE CRACKIN' SHREK/DONKEY, kind of an interactive companion doll. Press on his fuzzy muzzle and say "I love you, Donkey" to activate the plush donkey's buddy mode. But watch out, when he hears "Go away Donkey" his mood turns sour. (Approximate retail price: $29.99 for kids 5+.)

First 5 Minutes of Shrek 2 To Air on Nick

Nickelodeon will air the first five minutes of SHREK 2 on May 18, 2004 at 7:00 pm, the night before the DreamWorks film opens in theaters nationwide.

"Giving kids the opportunity to see something top secret reinforces Nickelodeon's relevance to kids," said Nickelodeon president Cyma Zarghami. "It's very exciting to offer kids an exclusive insider's look at one of the biggest pop culture events of the year."

It’s MegaMay and MegaMan Jackpot Sweepstakes at Kids’ WB!

Kids' WB! Call this month MegaMay with the return of the futuristic-adventure series MEGAMAN NT WARRIOR to its Saturday morning lineup as of May 1, 2004 (10:30 am ET/9:30 am PT), teaming up with anime smash-hits POKÉMON: ADVANCED and YU-GI-OH!: ENTER THE SHADOW REALM. The second season of the cyber-saga has 26 energetically charged original episodes from ShoPro Ent. In conjunction with its Saturday morning premiere, the series also will highlight Kids' WB!'s weekday lineup with original episodes from May 3 through Friday May 7 at 3:30 pm.

Undersea Animation Wipes Out Competition In Nick Kids’ Choice Awards

Children showed they treasure undersea animation, voting for FINDING NEMO and SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS as their Favorite Movie and Favorite Cartoon, respectively, in the 17th annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards awarded April 3, 2004 during a live broadcast on the cablenet. Kids voted online and by phone for the winners.

SpongeBob took additional honors as Favorite Video Game for SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS: BATTLE FOR BIKINI BOTTOM.

MIP-TV News: Fox Kids Europe to Launch Korean Property PUCCA

Fox Kids Europe (FKE), will launch PUCCA at MIP-TV, an animated TV series based on the funky, cult Korean property created by VOOZ Co., Ltd. FKE has acquired all television and home video rights for the whole of Europe and the Middle East, for the 24x2.5 animated short PUCCA series.

ABC Kids Sets Fall Saturday Morning Lineup

ABC Kids, the Saturday morning childrens programming block on the ABC Television Network, is holding to its slate over the season, with only one addition, a new live-action show, PHIL OF THE FUTURE, in fall 2004. DIC Ent.s evp of creative affairs Robby London will be attending MIP-TV as a buyer to acquire, for the first time, educationally qualified programming to air in the U.S. on DIC Kids Network. The programming will make up a three-hour programming block for kids designed to meet core FCC requirements.

Corus Entertainment has promoted Joanna Webb to vp, programming, responsible for YTV, Treehouse TV and Discovery Kids Canada. Kids' WB! will add two new animated series and two live-action projects to its top-rated Saturday morning and weekday slates. The network continues to build on its all-new all-year-round strategy and success with its diverse and innovative programming schedule, beginning this spring and leading into the 2004-2005 television season according to John Hardman, svp, Kids' WB!, speaking to advertisers and media at the third annual joint Kids' WB! and Cartoon Network upfront sales presentation in New York.

CyberChase Makes Marketing Push

PBS Kids' math-mystery property CYBERCHASE has moved into brand activity high gear this spring, including new marketing dollars and licensees. With INTEL and JIF signing on as national underwriters of the series, the deal brings a variety of promotional opportunities and marketing dollars to the show. As part, national student contests, educational outreach programs, consumer promotions and events are in the works to focus nationwide attention on math literacy.

UTV To Launch Indian Kids Net

Mumbai-based UTV has announced it will launch a Hindi language kids network. The channel will air dramas, comedies, movies, animation and documentaries targeted toward kids 4-19. This will be the first children's network from a company based out of India.

Recently, Turner Intl. India debuted its Pogo channel. Turner launched Cartoon Network in India in 1995.
