Nickelodeon unveils the second of its PSA on-air series, which focuses on the importance of breakfast. The spot, entitled "It's Breakfast Time," animated by Klasky Csupo's commercial division ka-chew!, is based on research findings that Nickelodeon released this summer, and features animated utensils rhyming and singing about breakfast foods as needed sources of energy for the start of the day. Kids' WB! new 2005-2006 broadcast season will be highlighted by the world premieres of three new series and four returning hits. Kids WB! kicks off its new schedule Sept. 17 (8:00 am-12 pm ET /7:00-11:00 am PT). On Monday, Sept. 19 (3-5:00 pm ET/PT), the new seasons Monday-Friday weekday lineup will debut, introducing the high-octane vehicles-turned-robots world of TRANSFORMERS: CYBERTRON, along with more exciting adventures of returning shows, five days a week.
UTV Software Communications Ltd. of India has announced a joint venture with the Malaysia-based Astro, a DTH and pay TV operator, to create two new channels in the region, reports the BUSINESS STANDARD. UTV will handle the content, marketing and brand building with the capital investment coming entirely from Astro. UTV will receive nearly $1 million a year as well as an option to invest up to 20% equity in the channel at par over three years.
China's national broadcaster, CCTV and Nickelodeon are co-producing the first kids' show in China, THE CCTV-NICKELODEON KIDS' CHOICE HONORS. The event will be held at Tian Qiao Theatre in Beijing on Sept. 10, 2005, at 7:30 pm and will be televised on CCTV14 on September 23 at 8:00 pm and, additionally, on CCTV1 and CCTV4, reaching 300 million households throughout China.

Warner Bros. Animation and the Kids WB! announced the all-star voice cast for the Looney Tunes-inspired series, LOONATICS UNLEASHED, set to debut on Kids WB! in fall 2005. In June, the Kids' WB! will air the wild and wacky "Pillow Head Hour," the premiere of new JACKIE CHAN ADVENTURES and the return of THE BATMAN for a two-week mission on the Monday-Friday lineup.
The WB Television Network will replace the Kids WB!, 3-5:00 pm timeslot with a branded general entertainment programming block Monday through Friday for its affiliate group of over 200 television stations beginning January 2006, it was announced today (may 31, 2005) by Garth Ancier, chairman of The WB. At the same time, the Kids WB! Saturday morning lineup, considered primetime for kids programming, will expand from four to five hours, running from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm, noon.
PorchLight Ent. has announced that Discovery Kids and Jetix Europe have ordered 13 new episodes of the Emmy award-winning animated series, TUTENSTEIN. The new episodes are scheduled for delivery in 2006. Discovery Kids Channel and Jetix Europe are the series partners in the U.S. and Europe respectively. In the U.S., Tutenstein airs on the Discovery Kids channel and the Discovery Kids Saturday morning block on NBC.
Discovery Kids and WGBH are currently in production on an original new animated series, TIME WARP TRIO, that will debut on Discovery Kids on NBC this July. Kids television producer WGBH created the series, based on a popular book series, in association with Soup2Nuts.
Helen Blayney joins Celador International as senior sales manger, kids division, where she will be responsible for sales of the companys growing portfolio of childrens programming, including ROOBARB & CUSTARD and TALES OF THE RIVERBANK. Blayney reports to Cathy Laughton, who joined London-based Celador Intl in February 2005 as head of kids programming to champion of its new kids division, Celador International Kids.
