HIT Ent. has announced the renewal and extension of TOMY as Master Toy Licensee for the classic preschool property THOMAS & FRIENDS across Europe. The new deal reflects TOMY's long history with THOMAS & FRIENDS and will see the company transition the Motor Road and Rail system to the new Trackmaster, due for launch in Autumn/Winter 2008.

Disneys underrated THE FOX AND THE HOUND, about the bittersweet relationship between childhood friends and natural rivals, returns to DVD on Oct. 10, 2006, in honor of the 25th anniversary (Walt Disney Home Ent., $29.99). Directed by Art Stevens, Ted Berman and Richard Rich, the film marked the last collaboration between three of the famed Nine Old Men: Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston and Wolfgang Reitherman. The Fremantle Corp. has acquired the new combined 2D and 3D animated production, FRIENDS AND HEROES. The distribution company will showcase the animated series at MIPCOM along with a substantial list of previously announced programming. This series will also be made available at MIPCOM Jr.
