The Slamdance 2006 Film Festival, which runs from Jan. 19-27, 2006, in Park City, Utah, has announced the films to screen at the 12th annual festival. Festival films come from Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Cuba, Canada, Egypt, France, Germany, New Zealand, Poland, South Korea, Spain, U.K. and the U.S.
The films competing in the Animated Short Competition include:* THE FLOODED PLAYGROUND (2005, 20 min., USA) Directed by Lisa Crafts.* THE LOVE TRAIN (2005, 8 min., UK) Directed by Eva Bennett.

HDFEST's 2005 Los Angeles event is the conclusion of the HDFEST 2005 World Tour. HDFEST screens films created exclusively using HD technology. Former Marvel Ent. brand manager John Taddeos animated short film ZOOM SUIT has been awarded Best Animation at the Gulf Coast Film & Video Festival and Best Animated Film at the Santa Clarita Independent Film Festival.
The Gulf Coast Film & Video Festival was held Sept. 16-18, 2005, in Nassau Bay, Texas. The Santa Clarita Independent Film Festival was held Nov. 11-13, 2005, in Santa Clarita, California. Both festivals aim to encourage the work of the independent filmmaker and expand the awareness of independent films.
Malin Erixon's seven-minute DEATH BY HEART took home the "Made in Stockholm" award on Nov. 26, 2005, at the Stockholm International Film Festival. The film produced by Ganzanderes Animation was recognized by the jury "for odd but gifted animation which, by a surrealistic touch, mixes expressions and narratives in a free manner." The Golden Panda Awards is co-organized by Sichuan TV festival, Cartoon Commission of China TV Artists Association and SIGGRAPH (Beijing) chapter, and is held during Sichuan TV festival, the biggest and most important state-level TV festival in China. For 2005, Sichuan TV festival set up its first international animation film award, the "Golden Panda" award, which is selecting works from all over around the world.
The Animation Film Festival "Animated Dreams" is a sub-festival of Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival International competition of short (-15 min) animations includes 45 films that have premiered after 1 January 2004. Screening formats are 35mm, DVD and Betacam SP Pal. All films with dialogue must have English subtitles. Informative sections include retrospectives of a film-maker, genre or studio, and focus on a country. In addition, short animations will be screened before feature films in the main programme of Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival

The Academy of Machinima Arts and Sciences will present the 2005 Machinima Film Festival, a full-day of Machinima (animated filmmaking using 3D videogame technologies), taking place at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens. Juried prizewinners were announced for the 2005 Bethel Film Festival. Taking the Best Animation award was FLYAWAY from director Danny Oakley. The short film was produced by Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based Out Of Our Minds Animation Studio, which landed nearly $2 million in funding from private investors for the production of its first feature-length animated film, MAGISTICAL, earlier this summer.

San Diego International Children's Film Festival will showcase full-length films for children of all ages & teens, shorts for children ages 7 & under, at the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego's historic Balboa Park.
