Now in its 23rd year, The Chicago International Children's Film Festival is the largest and longest running festival of films for children in the U.S. Last year the festival screened 220 films and videos from 40 countries for audiences of 24,000 children and families. It is the only Academy Award qualifying childrens festival in the world.

The DIY Book Festival will consider self-published or independent publisher non-fiction, fiction, biography/autobiography, children's books, teenage, how-to, audio/spoken word, photography, art, comics, 'zines, fan fiction, poetry and e-books published on or after Jan. 1, 2004.

The Crossroads Film Society presents the 7th annual Crossroads Film Festival with entries from Mississippi and around the world. More than 50 films, which range from two minutes to two hours, will be shown at Parkway Place Regal Cinema in Flowood, Mississippi.
The Ann Arbor Film Festival is a non-profit arts organization that has along-standing tradition of showcasing all genres of independent experimental film. Its mission is to provide a worldwide public forum for independent and experimental moving image exhibitions, to encourage and showcase artists of the moving image, to promote the moving image as art and to offer educational outreach. London based VooDooDog, run by David Z.Obadiah and Paul and Noel Donnellon, have been selected for the official competition in the commissioned films category at the Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival with the end credit sequence they created for the Working Title/Universal Studios film NANNY MCPHEE.
The sequence directed by Irish animator Paul Donnellon was nominated at the British Animation Awards and also won the silver medal at the New York Festivals recently.

The Definition 2006: Digital Media Festival will be held during the Accelerators Definition 2006: HD Summit from April 20-22, 2006, at The Banff Centre. The festival is a juried event bringing the best works in HD media from around the world to Banff, Alberta.
The third season of THE NICKTOONS NETWORK ANIMATION FESTIVAL for 2006 has issues a call for entries. Frederator Studios and the Nicktoons Network are again producing the festival. Shorts must be received by 5:00 pm (PST) on May 31, 2006.
The Festival runs six nights (five original screenings plus the best-of) beginning on the Nicktoons Network on August 26, 2006.
This year, the festival will expand with live screenings as well as distributing the shows through a variety of digital outlets.

The 11th edition of Milano Film Festival will be held next September in Milan, at the Piccolo Teatro and Castello Sforzesco. The New York International Childrens Film Festival, a Big Apple perennial since 1999, returns on March 11, 2006, in a different, yearlong format.
Instead of several weekends of back-to-back screenings, director Eric Beckman has organized this year's festival as weekend programs that will take place throughout 2006. "We're experimenting with a new format," Beckman explains. "We did a survey last year and 96% of the people we asked said they would go to a once a month screening.
