Composer Bear McCreary, known best for his work on popular sci-fi TV series BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, has signed on to score Capcom's third-person action game, DARK VOID. He has gained international renown over the last few years for his amazing work on BATTLESTAR, and DARK VOID marks the first time McCreary will be creating the score for a videogame.

After a record-breaking domestic run and continuing success in the overseas markets, Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' THE DARK KNIGHT has crossed the $1 billion threshold in worldwide box office revenue with $1,001,082,160 gross to date.

WALL-E was named the Best Picture of 2008 by the Online Film Critics Society, also nabbing a trophy for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Screenplay from Andrew Stanton and Jim Reardon. (Per REUTERS).

THE DARK KNIGHT got four prizes, including Best Director for Christopher Nolan, Best Supporting Actor for Heath Ledger, Cinematography for Wally Pfister and Original Score for James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer.

Warner Bros. will not release THE DARK KNIGHT in China, according to VARIETY.

According to a statement Tuesday, "Based on a number of pre-release conditions that are being attached to THE DARK KNIGHT as well as cultural sensitivities to some elements of the film, we have opted to forego a theatrical release of the film in China," the studio said.

THE DARK KNIGHT hits the street on December 9 as Warner Bros.' first home entertainment release to include Internet-enabled interactive features exclusive to the Blu-ray format. THE DARK KNIGHT Blu-ray takes advantage of next-generation technology through BD-Live, which is accessible through internet-connected Blu-ray players (including PlayStation 3).

Legendary filmmaker George Lucas made an appearance at Spike TV's "SCREAM 2008," honoring the best in fantasy, sci-fi, comics and horror, at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.

Warner Bros. is planning to re-release THE DARK KNIGHT to theaters in January, at the height of the Academy Awards voting season, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

"It's just a matter of bringing it back as a reminder for people," a studio insider said, furthering speculation that WB will lobby for Oscar nominations for director Christopher Nolan, actor Heath Ledger and perhaps more.

Ledger's performance as The Joker has especially been garnering Best Supporting Actor talk since the film's July 18 release.

It will be one "dark night" this October as Spike TV presents the third annual SCREAM, a celebration of the best in horror, sci-fi, fantasy and comic genres. Taping on Saturday, October 18 from The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, California, SCREAM 2008 will premiere on Spike TV Tuesday, October 21 (9-11 p.m., ET/PT).

THE DARK KNIGHT's 12:01 a.m. screenings Thursday night broke a box office record, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Warner Bros. reported Friday that the late night/early morning screenings earned a record $18.5 million, $640,000 of that coming from IMAX screenings.

And, that $18.5M doesn't count the 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. showings that some theaters booked, only the 3,040 theaters screening at midnight.

Concurrently with THE DARK KNIGHT's debut in commercial 35mm and digital theatres, THE DARK KNIGHT: The IMAX Experience will be released in IMAX theatres July 18, 2008.

THE DARK KNIGHT: The IMAX Experience will feature six sequences filmed with IMAX cameras (including the opening six minutes).

This marks the first time ever that a major feature film has been even partially shot using IMAX cameras, marking a revolutionary integration of the two film formats.

Atari has released the eagerly awaited action survival game ALONE IN THE DARK for Xbox 360, Games for Windows, Wii and PlayStation 2 to retailers across North America. The PlayStation 3 version is currently scheduled for release in fall 2008.
