Universal Pictures Int'l Ramps Up Blu-ray -- Hulk First Up

Universal Pictures International Ent. will release THE INCREDIBLE HULK on DVD and Blu-ray on October 13, marking the studio's first international day-and-date wide debut of a Blu-ray new release feature film.

The film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in the U.S. on October 21.

From Marvel Studios, THE INCREDIBLE HULK, starring Edward Norton, Tim Roth and Liv Tyler has earned $250 million in worldwide box office. Bonus features on the Blu-ray will include the U-Control application and interactive features via BD-Live.

Wall-E Headed For Your Home Galaxy Nov. 18

WALL-E will be released on DVD and Blu-ray from Walt Disney Studios Home Ent. on November 18, according to

Details are forthcoming, but the release will have BD-Live capability and will be a two-disc set. It will also contain a digital copy of the film via the "Disney File." FINDING NEMO was supposed to be released on Blu-ray with WALL-E, but it has been delayed until 2009. No word on what Pixar catalog title will replace it.

First Blu-ray Player That Can Stream Movies From Netflix To The TV

LG Electronics and Netflix announced plans for the first Blu-ray disc player that will have the added benefit of being able to instantly stream a growing library of movies and TV episodes from Netflix directly to the TV.

Available this fall, the LG BD300 Network Blu-ray Disc Player will play high definition Blu-ray discs, up-convert standard DVDs to 1080p and allow Netflix subscribers to instantly stream more than 12,000 choices of movies and TV episodes from Netflix to the TV for no additional charge.

Iron Man DVD, Blu-Ray Coming Sept. 30

VIDEO BUSINESS has confirmed that the Blu-ray and DVD releases of IRON MAN will be September 30. is accepting pre-orders for the various editions, which include a two-disc special edition and single-disc DVD and the Blu-ray.

Paramount Home Ent. has not formally announced the home video release date.

Marvel Studios will pass out flash drives at their Comic-Con booth this week with a sneak-peek of the DVD.

As of this past weekend, IRON MAN has grossed more than $314 million at the box office since its May release.

WB To Release Speed Racer Blu-Ray Day And Date

Warner Home Video will release SPEED RACER on Blu-Ray and DVD simultaneously on September 16, according to

The three-disc set will have the main feature and special features on the first disc, the DVD game SPEED RACER CRUCIBLE CHALLENGE on the second and a digital copy of the film on the third disc -- the last two a Blu-Ray exclusive.

Video will be presented in widescreen 1080p VC-1 accompanied by a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. Extras will include featurettes on how the races and cars were created.

Universal Unveils First International Blu-ray Lineup

Universal Pictures International Entertainment announced plans to release 29 titles on Blu-ray for the first time, unveiling a line-up of the year's most anticipated film and television content to be made available on the next generation high definition disc.

This major international debut, part of Universal's global Blu-ray rollout, begins on August 26 with the release of the top-rated, critically acclaimed NBC phenomenon HEROES Season 2. The announcement was made today by Eddie Cunningham, President of Universal Pictures International Entertainment.

No Blu-Ray for Xbox 360

Microsoft is reportedly not in discussions with Sony to include Blu-ray DVD technology to its Xbox 360 console, REUTERS reported Thursday.

In an interview with REUTERS on Wednesday, group product manager for Xbox 360 Aaron Greenberg said "Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience."

Warner Home Video's 300 dominated the first ever High-Def Disc Awards, held Dec. 4 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Century City, taking High-Def Title of the Year (Blu-ray Disc) and Best Bonus Feature honors (HD DVD).

The High-Def Disc Awards dinner was part of High-Def 2.0, a one-day conference presented by HOME MEDIA MAGAZINE in cooperation with THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER and the Entertainment Merchants Assn.

A panel of critics and bloggers determined the best titles in 11 categories.
