Animated films by female filmmakers from Central- and East Europe

Dieses Programm versteht sich als Ergänzung zu Jayne Pillings Auswahl, die sich auf Filmerinnen aus dem englischsprachigen Raum konzentriert. Exemplarisch soll die Heterogenität des Trickfilmschaffens von Frauen aus Mittel- und Osteuropa aufgezeigt werden, das durchaus von Aspekten der regionalen und nationalen Kultur geprägt ist. Nina Schorina, eine der wenigen Frauen, die in der Sowjetunion außerhalb des Kindertrickfilms ein eigenständiges uvre entwickelt hat, eröffnet das Programm: "Door" ist eine ironische Parabel über den Umgang der Menschen in der UdSSR mit der Perestroika.
Während Oksana Tscherkassowa sich in ihren Filmen stark an der Volkskunst und -dichtung orientiert, formulieren Zofia Oraczewska, Michaela Pavlatová und Marina Biliandinova in fast cartoonartigem Stil die für den Trickfilm typischen universellen Geschichten über menschliche Unzulänglichkeiten und Hilflosigkeit. Pointiert und unterhaltsam reflektieren Angela Holtschmidt und Bettina Bayerl über das klischeehafte Bild von Frauen unter dem Stichwort "Sexualität und Schönheit". Susanne Fränzel treibt die Differenz zwischen männlich-linearer "Treffsicherheit" und weiblich-bodenständiger "Wehrhaftigkeit" mit einer küchenkittel-beschürzten Erkenbrechtsweilerin auf die Spitze. Experimentell ist die Herangehensweise von Mara Mattuschka und Cathy Joritz, die mit "Negative Man" den Kultfilm zur Dekonstruktion des männlichen Habitus geschaffen hat. Joritz hat in die Emulsion eines gefundenen Films, in dem ein mittelalter Mann Seriosität suggeriert, einen köstlich-ironischen Kommentar gekratzt.

This programme is conceptualized as an addition to Jayne Pilling´s selection which concentrates on filmmakers from the english-speaking world. An example of the heterogenity of the production of animated films by Central and Eastern European women is demonstrated, especially as they are marked by the different regional and national culture aspects. Nina Shorina, who is one of the few women who has developed an independent oeuvre outside of the realm of children´s animated films, will open the programme: "Door" is an ironic parable about how the people of the USSR dealt with Perestroika.
While Oksana Tscherkassowa deeply concerns herself with native art and poetry in her films, Zofia Oraczewska, Michaela Pavlatova, and Marina Biliandinova create in an almost cartoon fashion, the typical, universal stories found in animated films about inadequacies and helplessness. Pointed and entertaining, Angela Holtschmidt and Bettina Bayerl reflect the clischeed picture of women under the topic "Sexuality and Beauty". Susanne Fränzel propels the difference between the male, linear "strike certainty", and the female, homebound "defender" with an aproned, kitchen pinafore wearing woman from Erkenbrechtsweiler to the peak. Experimental is the approach of Mara Mattuschka and Cathy Joritz, who have developed the cultfilm of the destruction of the male disposition with "Negative Man". Joritz has scratched a wonderfully ironic commentary in the emulsion of this found film, where a middle-aged man suggests seriousness.
