Der Film zeigt uns den Anfang der Welt in einer spielerischen Assoziationsfolge, in der die Parallelen zum künstlerischen Schöpfungsakt betont werden. Die besondere Aufmerksamkeit gilt den Schwierigkeiten und Gefahren. Aber im bedrohlichsten Moment, in dem der Schöpfung die Krone aufgesetzt wird, nimmt die eigentlich tragische Entwicklung doch noch eine glückliche Wendung - denn wir sind im Kino.

The film shows us the beginning of the world in a playful series of associations, in which parallels to the artistic act of creation are emphasised. Special attention is paid to difficulties and dangers. But in the most threatening moment, in which creation is crowned with glory, the actual tragic development takes a turn for the better - well we are at the cinema after all.

"Ikonostasis Live" ist ein Film aus der "Ikonostasis"-Reihe, die sich mit der Mischung verschiedenfarbigen Lichts beschäftigt. Bei den vorhergehenden Filmen wurden stets gezeichnete Strukturen mit der Einzelbildkamera aufgenommen, diesmal fungiert die Kamera selbst als Zeichengerät. Die gestische Malerei der Lichtpunkte und Lichtlinien einfangenden Kamera wird mit einem Soundtrack, der direkt in den Film gekratzt wurde, verbunden. Der Ton bezieht sich einerseits auf die Abspielgeschwindigkeit von 24/f/sec und andererseits auf die Belichtungszeit während der Aufnahme: zwei Sekunden.

"Ikonostasis Live" is a film from the series "Ikonostasis", which deals with the mixing of different coloured lights. In the previous films structures were always recorded with the single frame camera, but this time the camera itself is being used as a drawing device. The gestical paintings of the light points and lines which are caught by the camera are connected to the soundtrack which was put directly onto the film. The sound refers on the one hand to the playing speed of 24/f/sec and on the other hand to the exposure during the recording: two seconds.

Zwei Männer, ein Träger und sein Chef, müssen einen gefrorenen See überqueren. Es ist nicht sicher, ob das Eis schon trägt, also versuchen sie alles, den anderen vorgehen zu lassen. Der Kampf um den zweiten Platz wird immer aggressiver und für einen Moment scheint die soziale Hierarchie vergessen.

Two men, a porter and his boss, have to cross a frozen lake. It is not sure, if the ice will hold. So they do everything to let the other one go first. The fight for the second place becomes more and more aggressive and for a moment the social hierarchy seems to have been forgotten.

Ten or so sequences supported by narration, tell the memories of a baby in the womb. This story of initiation invites us - through virtuality - to reflect upon the concept of materialization, the process by which things take form.

Grundlage dieses Films bildet eine Sage, wonach die Meerjungfrau sich in einen jungen Mann verliebt. Sie kann zusammen mit ihm an Land leben so lange er sie nicht mehr als drei Mal schlägt.

This film is based on a legend in which a mermaid falls in love with a young man and is allowed to share her life on land with him as long as he doesn't strike her more then three times.
