Every time a certain man turns off the light in his house to take a nap, he is disturbed by incomprehensible rustles and noise from a mousehole.

Eine dunkle monströse Gestalt flieht aus einem Gefängnis in einen Wald. Dort trifft die Gestalt auf den Sohn des Holzfällers. Daraus entsteht eine Geschichte mit Gewalt, Entbehrung und Familiengeheimnissen in die das Monster, der Holzfäller und dessen Sohn verwickelt sind.

A dark and monstrous figure escapes from a prison and flees into the forest. There he happens to meet a woodcutter's son. A story then unfolds which unites the monster, the woodcutter and his son in a tale of violence, loss and family secrets.

"The End of the World in Four Seasons" ist eine witzige schwarze Komödie mit mehreren Handlungen in acht getrennten Fenstern, die immer auf der Leinwand sind. Vier "Handlungen" stellen die Jahreszeiten dar, die in einem virtuosen Spiel mit etablierten Cartoon-Traditionen in die Katastrophe schlittern.

"The End of the World in Four Seasons" is a witty black comedy with multiple storylines at eight separate animated windows on-screen at all times. Four "acts" representing the seasons unspool towards disaster in a virtuoso game with established cartoon conventions.

Grundlage dieses Films ist ein Gedicht von Hilary Llewlyn Williams mit dem Titel "Das Robbenweibchen": Die Robbe verwandelt sich in einen Menschen und wird von einem Bauern gefangen. Hier in diesem Film versucht sie der menschlichen Gestalt und ihrem Freund zu entkommen. Der Freund liest in ihrem Tagebuch und erfährt, daß sie fliehen möchte. Nach mehreren Verwandlungen nimmt sie wieder die Gestalt einer Robbe an. Der Freund ist ärgerlich und traurig.

The film is based on a poem, written by Hilary Llewlyn Williams called "The Sealwife" who transforms into a human being and is traped by a farmer. In this film she is trying to escape from her human situation and from her boyfriend. The boyfriend is reaching her diary and sees that she wishes to escape. She makes numerous transformations into a seal. The boyfriend gets quite annoyed and sad.

Bücher, Betrüger, Menschenmassen, Uhren, Fische, Geschirr, Geigen und sogar das Auge der Kamera sind ein gefundenes Fressen für die Scharfschützen von "Watching TV". Schließlich sind sogar die Sonne, der Mond und die Erde nicht sicher vor dem Geschützfeuer. Die Beschäftigung des Films mit Gewalt im Fernsehen verlangt, daß der Zuschauer die Form und den Inhalt von TV-Nachrichten, Werbesendungen und Fernsehprogrammen hinterfragt. Man kann "Watching TV" lieben oder hassen, man kann es aber nicht ignorieren. Die Bilder und Geräusche werden den Zuschauer erzürnen und ihn herausfordern, sich zu fragen, was er sieht und welche Wirkung das hat.

Books, crooks, flocks, clocks, fishes, dishes, violins and even the eye of the camera are afair game for the sharpshooters of "Watching TV". In the end, even the sun, moon and earth are not safe from gunfire. The film's preoccupation with television violence demands that viewers question the form and content of TV news, advertising and programming. You can love or hate "Watching TV", but you can't ignore it. Its images and sounds will pique and provoke viewers to question what they view and the effects of their viewing.
