In nur wenigen Jahren hat sich das Internationale Trickfilm-Festival Stuttgart zu einem zentralen Ereignis im deutschen, aber auch im internationalen Trickfilmgeschehen entwickelt. In einzigartiger Weise verstehen es die Veranstalter jedesmal aufs neue, einem interessierten fachkundigen Publikum anspruchsvolle Trickfilme aus allen Ländern und Kontinenten dieser Erde zu präsentieren. Das Trickfilm-Festival hat viel dazu beigetragen, das Genre des Animationsfilms in seinem künstlerischen Selbstverständnis zu festigen und aus seinem Schattendasein herauszuführen.

Der Phantasie des Trickfilmers sind keine Grenzen gesetzt. Sein Medium bietet ihm die Möglichkeit, neue Welten zu erschaffen und für den Zuschauer völlig neue Sichtweisen zu erschließen. Es ist vor allem diese Kreativität und Vielfalt, welche die Faszination des Trickfilms für den Betrachter, aber auch für den Filmemacher selbst begründet. Die sich ständig weiterentwickelnde Computertechnologie hat auch im Bereich des Trickfilms neue Dimensionen und Möglichkeiten eröffnet. Weiterentwicklungen in diesem Bereich, aber auch alle anderen Facetten des Animationsfilms werden in Symposien und Präsentationen im Rahmen des Festivals eingehend beleuchtet. Ein Schwerpunkt der Stuttgarter Veranstaltung ist die Förderung des Nachwuchses. Das Trickfilm-Festival bietet für junge Trickfilmer ein einzigartiges Forum für die Präsentation ihrer originellen Werke.

Ich wünsche den Organisatoren des Internationalen Trickfilm-Festivals weiterhin den verdienten Erfolg sowie allen Besucherinnen und Besuchern unterhaltsame und anregende Stunden.

In only a few years the International Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart has developped into a major event both in the German and the international animation world. In a unique way the organizers know each time to present ambitious animated films from all over the wortld to an interested and competent audience. The Festival of Animated Film has contributed considerably to strengthening the style of animated film in its artistic self-image and leading it away from its shadowy existence.

There are no limits to the imagination of an animated film maker. His medium offers him the opportunity to create new worlds and to open up completely new ways of seeing things for the viewer. It is above all this creativity and diversity which makes the animated film so fascinating for the viewer and also the film maker. The constantly progressing computer technology has provided new dimensions and opportunities in the field of animated film. Further developments in this field as well as other facets of the animated film can be seen in meetings and presentations within the programme of this festival. The promotion of young talents is a focal point of the event in Stuttgart. The Festival of Animated Film offers young makers of animated films a unique forum for the presentation of their original works.

I would like to wish the organisers of the International Festival of Animated Film the well-deserved success and also all the visitors many entertaining and exiting hours.
