Der Film und seine Förderung haben in Baden-Württemberg und hier vor allem in der Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart in den letzten Jahren stetig an Bedeutung gewonnen. Diese Entwicklung kam dem Trickfilm-Festival in vielfacher Hinsicht zugute: fruchtbare neue Kooperationsmöglichkeiten taten sich auf. So hat die enge Zusammenarbeit mit der Filmakademie Ludwigsburg und dem Landesgewerbeamt die zum zweiten Mal stattfindende Film- und Medienbörse ermöglicht, deren Hauptanliegen die Förderung des Kontaktes zwischen jungen Medienschaffenden und der Wirtschaft ist. Erstmals wird es in diesem Jahr auch einen Markt für Animationsfilme geben: Firmen, die das notwendige technische Equipment herstellen, werden sich dort ebenso präsentieren wie Filmförderinitiativen.

Ein deutliches Zeichen für die große und weiter wachsende Bedeutung des Festivals ist die Fülle der Sponsoren, die dem Festival im Laufe der Jahre zugewachsen sind und ihm die Treue halten. Sie haben dazu beigetragen, daß am Ende des Festivals viele namhafte Preise vergeben werden können. Mit mehr als 170.000 DM ist die zur Verfügung stehende Summe der Preisgelder 1996 so hoch wie noch nie - kein Wunder, daß auch die internationale Resonanz mit mehr als 700 Einreichungen so gut ist wie noch nie.

Ich bin stolz darauf, daß das Internationale Trickfilm-Festival in Stuttgart stattfindet und wünsche allen Besuchern, Mitwirkenden und Mitarbeitern schöne und interessante Stunden in der Landeshauptstadt.

Film and its promotion have constantly gained in importance in Baden-Württemberg and here above all in the capital of the Federal state, Stuttgart, over the last few years. This development was advantageous for the Animated Film Festival in many respects: productive new possibilities of cooperation were organized. Thus, the close cooperation with the Filmakademie Ludwigsburg and the Regional trade Office made the film and media exchange possible, which will take place for the second time and the main concern of which is the promotion of contacts between young media producers and the trade. For the first time this year there will be a market for animated films: companies which produce the necessary technical equipment will be present there just like the film promotion programmes.

A significant sign for the great and expanding importance of the festival ist the number of sponsors which the festival has gained and who have remained loyal over the years. It is thanks to their contributions that many substantial prizes can be awarded at the end of the festival. With more than DM 170,000 of prize money available in 1996 there is more money available than ever before - and it is therefore no wonder that the international response with more than 700 submissions is better than it has ever been before.

I am proud that the International Festival of Animated Film will take place in Stuttgart and I wish all visitors, contributors and staff a nice and interesting time in the capital of Baden-Württemberg.
