Dieses Programm beinhaltet Animationsfilme, die auf vollkommen unterschiedliche Art und Weise mit klassischer Musik umgehen. Legendär sind Lotte Reinigers Silhouettenfilme, in denen es ihr, wie sie im Falle von "Carmen" betont, um eine Eigeninterpretation der Musik geht. In "Eine Nacht auf dem kahlen Berge" wenden Alexander Alexeieff und Claire Parker ihre innovative Nadelbrettechnik an. Die stetige Transformation der Bilder steht im Einklang mit der Verwandlung, die die beiden unterschiedlich alten Frauen beim Hexensabbat durchlaufen.
Vollkommen abstrakt ist Oskar Fischingers "Motion Painting No.1", den er mit Ölfarben auf Plexiglas herstellte, wobei er den Prozeß des Malaktes in den Vordergrund stellt. Svankmajers zweiter Film überhaupt, "J.S. Bach: Fantasia in G Minor", verbindet einen durch Kameraschwenks und Zooms erzeugten filmischen Rhythmus mit seiner surrealistischen Position. Statt repräsentativ-hoheitlichem Glanz sehen wir Fragmente - zerfallene Häuser, verrostete Schlüssellöcher und Stacheldraht als Wunden der Welt. Malerisch im Stile eines De Chirico ist "La course à l'abîme" - Georges Schwizgebels Umsetzung von Berlioz' "La damnation de Faust". Abschluß des Programms bildet Barry J. Purves' aufwendig produzierter Puppentrickfilm über das Schicksal des Rigoletto am Hof von Mantua.

This programme entails animated films which deal with classical music in very different ways. Legendary are Lotte Reiniger´s silhouette films, which are concerned with a personal interpretation of music, as emphasized in the case of "Carmen". In "A Night on a Bare Mountain", Alexander Alexeieff and Claire Parker apply their innovative pinboard-technique. The continuous transformation of the pictures is in harmony with the change which overcomes the two women of different ages during the witches´ sabbath.
Oskar Fischinger´s "Motion Painting No. 1" is completely abstract, which was created by putting oil paints on plexiglass, in the course of which the act of painting is brought to the forefront. Svankmajer´s second film ever, "J.S. Bach: Fantasia in G Minor" combines rhythm of film created by panning shots and using the zoom, with his surrealistic position. Instead of representatively royal brilliance, we see fragments - decaying houses, rusted key holes and barbed wire, as the wounds of the world. Picturesque in the style of a De Chirico is "The Ride to the Abyss" - Georges Schwizgebels adaptation of Berlioz´s "La Damnation de Faust". The end of the programme is formed using Barry J. Purves´ costly animated-puppet film production about the Rigoletto´s fate at the court of Mantua.
