Cartoon D'Or

Jedes Jahr organisiert CARTOON, eine Initiative des MEDIA Programms der Europäischen Union, den einzigen europäischen Preis für Trickfilme, den Cartoon d'Or. Dieser Preis wird in Zusammenarbeit mit den acht wichtigsten europäischen Trickfilm-Festivals organisiert. Kurzfilme, die Preise bei diesen Festivals erhalten, können am Cartoon D'Or teilnehmen. Die Auswahl der fünf Finalisten wird von der Jury des Cartoon D'Or getroffen. Der Gewinner wird beim CARTOON Forum bekanntgegeben. Der Regisseur des Gewinnerfilms bekommt einen Scheck im Wert von 35.000 ECU, der für ein neues und ehrgeizigeres Projekt verwendet werden soll, wie z.B. einen Spielfilm oder ein TV Special.

Each year, CARTOON, an initiative of the MEDIA Programme of the European Union, organizes the Cartoon d'Or, the only European prize for animation film. This award is organized in collaboration with the 8 most important Europan festivals for animation film. The short films which receive awards at these festivals can compete for the Cartoon d'Or. The selection of the five finalists is made by the jury of the Cartoon d'Or. The winner is announced at the CARTOON Forum. The director of the winning film receives a cheque of 35,000 ECU which should be used to start a new and more ambitious project, such as a feature film or a TV special.
