With Hollywood hot on adapting projects from the word of God, Australian producer Tom Broadbridge will create a 12-episode series titled, THE ANIMATED ADVENTURE BIBLE, reports HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Funded by a group of private Malaysian Christian investors, the budget is set at AUS$15 million ($10.4 million).

Dargaud Distribution, the sales arm of leading French producer Dargaud Marina, has signed a raft of sales for CHILDHOOD STORIES, eight animated television specials based upon popular childrens books. Broadcasters on board include Italys RAI 3, Teletoon in France, Spains TV3 and NRK Norway for this unique collection of films while Dargaud Distrib. is targeting further international sales at MIPCOM.
Adina Pitt has been promoted from director to vp of Acquisitions for Nickelodeon and Nicktoons, Nickelodeon's digital channel for the next generation of animation. Pitt will handle pre-buys and acquisitions for both networks, reporting to Pete Danielsen, svp of programming, Nickelodeon; and Keith Dawkins, vp/gm, Nicktoons.
Monster Distributes Ltd. recently completed deals with ITV in the U.K. and Kika in Germany to broadcast KIDS TEN COMMANDMENTS. The series, which Monster picked up at NATPE, ahs a few minor deals and is ready for a big launch at MIPCOM, reports Andrew Fitzpatrick, chairman of Monster Distributes.
A few months ago Rick Mischel, ceo of Mainframe Ent., alluded to AWN that a sales/distribution entity would be in place soon for IDT Ent. and now that has become a reality. IDT Ent. has formed IDT Ent. Sales (IDTeS) a new company responsible for the worldwide distribution of content from its companies, as well as third-party producers. IDT Ent. companies include Anchor Bay Ent., Manga Ent., DPS, DPS/Film Roman, Mainframe Ent. and DKP Effects.

Since launching the integrated brand management company Elastic Rights two years ago in Spain, Ignacio Orive has been busy signing multimedia partners for his diverse slate of projects and selecting new properties to represent in the Iberian and Italian markets. Animated properties he is taking to MIP-TV include FLASH KICKER, and CAILLOU.
At MIP-TV, Elastic Rights will be based on the Spanish producers stand FAPAE/ICEX, R31.29.
VGI Entertainment Inc. will be presenting three pre-school series in its booth R28.13 at MIP-TV. The series include SERGEANT STRIPES, EBB AND FLO and BLANCHE.
Produced by Ealing Animation and A Works TV Production in association with CBBC, SERGEANT STRIPE (26x10) features Stripes, a police station cat, who dreams he is a police sergeant with his very own police force. VGI launched the new 2D series at MIPCOM 2003 and the show receives a 33% audience share across all channels kids4-6 year olds for the BBC.

Contender Entertainment Group (CEG) is tickled pink that its new preschool animated series, PEPPA PIG, has secured sales in seven key international territories in less than four months. The 52x5 series is also set to premiere on Channel Five in the U. K. on May 31, 2004 and will broadcast later this year on Nick Jr. in the U.K.
Grace Animation Studios ceo Christopher Turner is assembling a production team to produce 26 new animated half-hour series of the THE AVENGING APES OF AFRICA (AAoA) for worldwide distribution. Grace will be showing a promo and first episode of the series at NATPE.
THE AVENGING APES OF AFRICA is an exciting action/adventure series for kids 6-12, where five transmuted ape brothers, and their exploration friends span the globe protecting and defending all animals of the world from the dreaded Mr. Harry B. Richborne and his worldwide band of pitiless poachers.
Warner Bros. International TV Distribution has hired Jessica Pinto for the newly created post of director of animation marketing. She will head the creative side of the new international Kids WB! blocks, in addition to managing sales and marketing presentations for programs the company distributes to other foreign networks. Previously, she served as vp, programming & scheduling for the Kids' WB! Pinto will be based in Burbank and report to Warner Bros. TV creative services svp Lisa Gregorian.

RAI Trade held a special launch reception for its new edutainment series, AMAZING HISTORY, at its stand during MIPCOM. The series strives to explain, in an entertaining manner for kids and adults, great historical events via live-action and lots of computer graphics, narrated by 3D animated hosts Mr. Chan, an alien from Mars, and Betty the sheep. Dubai TV has launched BARNEY on free TV in the Middle East, The program debuted there in 2000 and has seen growing success. A live show is underway for early 2004. As well, the series has been licensed to Hong Kong ATV World Channel. In addition, video deals have been signed for Argentina, Peru and Chile.
Toronto-based Comet Ent. has opened Vitamin Cartoons Inc., an animation services division to provide high quality pre- and post-production services. Vitamin draws upon the skills and experience of some of Canada's most talented artists, Flash animators and directors to offers character, background and prop design, special effects design, stock breakdown planning, storyboards, slugging; X-sheets, color styling, s-reel and pre-layout.
Although Christopher Grace recently stepped own as the champion of animation at Welsh broadcaster S4C, its distribution arm still is very much in the animation game as S4C International presented two children's animation pilots at MIPCOM. TIFF was created by Siriol and KIRK was created by Cart_n Cymru. Grace, co-founder of S4C, will help produce the two shows. S4C hopes to strike co-production deals for both projects.
