La Gravure sur Pellicule Comme Pensee
Legendary Canadian animator, Pierre Hebert leads an unusual workshop outlining
the technique of scratch animation (working without a camera, directly
on the film). Hebert will discuss his reasons for using scratch and right
before your eyes will produce a scratch film!

The Making of Bingo and The End
Alias-Wavefront's Chris Landreth will outline the complex development
of his award winning short films, Bingo (Best Computer Film, 1998 Ottawa
Animation Festival), and The End (1996 Oscar Nominee for Best Animation

Some feel that animation schools are too busy tailoring students for industry
jobs rather than allowing them to explore personal, artistic expression.

A tribute to one of Canada's greatest animators, Richard Condie. His work,
including La Salla, The Apprentice, Getting Started, and The Big Snit,

Canadian animator, Danny Antonnucci (Lupo The Butcher, The Brothers Grunt)

Philosopher Functionnaire: Rene Jodoin
The final festival retrospective programme pays a long overdue tribute
to one of Canada's most important animation figures. He was handpicked
by Norman McLaren. He nurtured a number of Canadian animators including:
Pierre Hebert, Paul Driessen, Francine Desbiens and he was the first Director
of the NFB's French Animation studio. He also made a number of austere
abstract films that continue to fascinate. Mr. Jodoin will be in attendance
to introduce the screening.
