The Ottawa International Animation Festival is pleased to announce the nominees for the 1999 Best Artistic Achievement in Animation Education Award. The award, which is presented to the best animation school showreel, will be presented at the 1999 Ottawa International Animation Festival which takes place October 21-24 at the National Archives of Canada in Ottawa, Canada. The 1999 Nominees are: Special Mentions: The competition will be divided into three parts. Each 90 minute competition programme will be shared by two schools. The nominees will be allotted forty-five minutes of programming space. The International Jury will award the a grand prize during the 1999 Awards Ceremony held on Sunday, October 24. School Competition #1, School Competition #2, School Competition #3, The criteria for the competition emphasizes unique and creative approaches to animation. We are not interested in schools that use education solely as a means of nurturing commercial expressions within limit modes of expression (ie. cel or digital animation). Instead, were are interested in institutions that encourage their students to use diverse techniques and imaginative and personal conceptual approaches. |
