From Dark Knight To 2012 For Chin Han

Singapore's Chin Han --next in THE DARK KNIGHT -- will have a role in Roland Emmerich's 2012, per VARIETY.

The ensemble cast already includes John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Chiwetel Ejifor and Danny Glover. The shoot begins in August in Vancouver.

"I have always enjoyed Roland Emmerich's epic take on sci-fi and disaster movies and really look forward to being a part of this film," Han said.

Hola Ent. Extends Taffy's Presence In Latin America

Taffy Ent. is bolstering the Latin American presence of its hit animated shows CODE LYOKO, THE FANTASTIC FOUR, DIVE OLLY DIVE! and CREEPIE, announcing key sales with a variety free TV broadcasters in the region. The deals were completed with the assistance of Canadian-based HOLA Ent., which signed on as Taffy's distribution agents for free TV broadcasters and video distribution in Latin America a year ago.

Taffy is owned by The MoonScoop Group and is a worldwide distribution, brand management and entertainment company.

Hancock Headed To FX In 2010

FX has bought the rights to air HANCOCK from Sony Pictures Television, per VARIETY.

The license term for the movie, distributed by Sony's Columbia Pictures, is four years, beginning late 2010. If the film is a hit, FX will play more than $20 million. The formula for the deal covers a payout of about 12 percent of the domestic box office, capped if the movie goes above $200 million.

Two other Will Smith vehicles, INDEPENDENCE DAY and I, ROBOT bring in big Nielsen ratings every time they're shown on FX, making the bid an easy decision for the network.

Theatrical Marketing Promotions Announced At Sony Pictures

Sony Pictures Ent. has promoted Valerie Van Galder and Marc Weinstock to co-presidents of Worldwide Theatrical Marketing, it was announced today by Jeff Blake, chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution for the studio, to whom the two will report.

Van Galder and Weinstock will collectively develop and oversee worldwide marketing campaigns for all films released by Columbia Pictures, Screen Gems and Sony Pictures Animation.

Sony Trying To Get Hollywood Onboard For PS3 Download Service

Sony is set to launch their long-awaited video download service on the PlayStation 3 this summer, but is still working on getting major studios onboard, per VARIETY.

At a press conference in Tokyo on Thursday, Kaz Hirai, President and CEO of Sony Computer Ent., announced plans to allow users to download movies and TV shows via their PS3 consoles starting this summer in the U.S. and soon after in Europe and Asia. This service has been in the works since the PS3 debuted in 2006.

DECODE Ent. has followed recent major deals for hit preschool series FRANNY'S FEET with a third season commission from Family Channel, an Astral Media network.

The Canadian broadcaster has ordered a further 26x11 minutes, bringing the total to (104x11 or 52x22), and will air the new season on its Playhouse Disney and Family channels.

Recent deals for the property have seen the television series acquired by PBS Kids Sprout, following excellent ratings for the show in the U.S. on THIRTEEN/WNET where it airs daily, and in the U.K., a sale to the Disney Channel.

Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation have obtained the motion picture rights to the SMURFS from Lafig Belgium S.A. via producer Jordan Kerner.
