Mainframe Taking Arthur 3D in Animated Feature

Mainframe Entertainment has acquired international distribution rights for a new CG animated direct-to-video film based on the tremendously popular ARTHUR children's book series. Mainframe, Lions Gate Family Entertainment and RichCrest Animation have partnered to create the feature film, ARTHUR'S MISSING PAL, which will mark the first time that the beloved aardvark will come to life in 3D CG animation. IDT Entertainment Sales (IDTeS) will sell international distribution rights for the film on behalf of Mainframe.

Sega Animanium Releases Lite Version of Its Animation Software

Sega Animanium, a 3D character animation software that has been used by leading animation studios and videogame developers in Japan, is now available in both a full version and a newly released lite version.

USA Index Corp., the U.S. subsidiary of Japan-based Index Corp. and licensee of Animanium, has released Animanium Express for $99. Animanium Express offers most of the features of the full version of Sega Animanium, however is limited to no more than 180 frames and does not offer the automatic clean-up function.

More Sensitive Wins Best Animation at the Female Eye Film Fest

MORE SENSITIVE, an animated film about a musician playing before a drunken, oblivious audience in a piano bar, was awarded Best Animation at the Female Eye Film Festival in Toronto this past weekend.

This is the second award for MORE SENSITIVE, which also won the Government of Canada Best Short Animation Award at the Victoria Independent Film & Video Festival in February 2004. Since then it has screened at 20 festivals across Canada, the U.S., Europe and Australia.

Noga Communications and Pil Animation have launched a new 26x2 series, JUST A MINUTE. Noga will be attending Annecy and MIFA with the project.

This animated show provides kids 6-12 with core knowledge in nature, science, architecture and history. Each clip presents at least five interesting facts on any given subject. For example, the program's viewers will learn why it is that Leonardo da Vinci wrote backwards, or why the Food Chain should not be confused with a fast-food joint.

YTV will air four back-to-back episodes of THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS to honor the beginning of summer vacation, on Thursday, June 23, beginning at 4:00 pm.

Benjamin Bear Snags Italian Merchandising Deal

Amberwood Ent. has entered into a master merchandising and licensing arrangement with RTI, a subsidiary of Gruppo Mediaset, for the animated series, THE SECRET WORLD OF BENJAMIN BEAR. RTI will undertake comprehensive merchandising of product based upon the series throughout Italy.

This series, commissioned by Canada's Family Channel, was co-produced with Scotland's Red Kite Productions and has been licensed in numerous territories worldwide.
