A comprehensive re-brand including the on-air identity, for both the TELETOON daytime programming block and The Detour on TELETOON, the interactive website teletoon.com, all marketing collateral and a new corporate identity was unleashed.

For the second year in a row, Imaginary Forces Karin Fong designed and directed an eye-catching, imaginative series of TV spots from ad agency Kelliher Samets Volk for Vermonts Chittenden Bank for Super Bowl viewers in New England.

DECODE Ent. has sold a second season commission for PLANET SKETCH to Nicktoons Network in the U.S., Nickelodeon's 24-hour animation network. Nicktoons Network has ordered all 26 11-minute episodes of the hit Aardman Animations co-production to air in spring 2007.
Nelvana and Spin Master Ltd. have teamed up on a line of specialty toys and games developed from two new animated action adventure series. The toys and games from the animated series DI-GATA DEFENDERS and BAKUGAN, which is in production and will begin airing in 2007, are set to make their debut at the Spin Master booth at the Canadian Toy & Hobby Fair on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at the Metro Convention Centre in Toronto (Booth #602). Both companies, headquartered in Toronto, are working together to market and promote the toys.
For the first time, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences released a shortlist of contenders for the foreign-language Oscar. The Mexican visual effects spectacle PAN'S LABYRINTH, which features effects from Café FX, is among the short-listed films. NBC Universal Cable Ent. announced the launch of Chiller, a 24-hour entertainment cable channel dedicated to the horror genre. DIRECTV will be the first affiliate to carry the new network, which starts March 1, 2007.
"We continually look at our options for launching new networks," said Jeff Gaspin, president, NBC Universal Cable Ent., digital content and cross network strategy.. "Horror is one of the most reliably successful genres in entertainment today and Chiller seems like a well-timed addition to our portfolio."
FRANNY'S FEET will return with its second season of 13 half-hour shows premiering February 3, 2007, on PBS KIDS. The series, produced by DECODE Ent. in association with Thirteen/WNET New York, debuted in the U.S. last summer and has become a hit for kids 4-7.
Franny's adventures take her and her viewers to places around the world, where she meets new friends and tries to help them solve problems, sharing her feelings, fears and advice with the audience along the way. DECODE Ent. has pre-sold GIZMO to Canada's YTV. The animated series (26x22 or 52x11), which is set to be delivered in fall of 2007, is a sci-fi comedy about the adventures of a dysfunctional crew of alien robots who crash-land in the backyard of siblings Daisy and Robin.
The series is developed by Singapore's Scrawl Studios and the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) in co-production with DECODE, YTV and Hong Kong animation company Agogo Ent. Ltd. DECODE has worldwide distribution rights for this Canada/Hong Kong/Singapore treaty co-production.
Brian Simpson joins Keyframe Digital Prods. as its new ceo. Reporting to Keyframe Digital's founders, Darren Cranford and Clint Green, Simpson's mandate is to assume responsibility for the strategic direction and implementation of Keyframe's productions. He will be operating from the head office located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada.
SCI FI Channel announced at the Television Critic's Assoc. Tour that it has greenlit production on FLASH GORDON, based on the popular comic strip franchise. Production on the 22 one-hour episodes begins in Canada in early 2007. The series, produced by Reunion Pictures, is slated to debut on SCI FI this July, with a broadcast syndication window to follow.

FRITZ THE CAT producer Steve Krantz passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, in Los Angeles from complications of pneumonia, reports VARIETY. He was 83.
Krantz began as a writer-producer for Arthur Godfrey, Milton Berle and Kate Smith, eventually becoming the exec producer for Steve Allen's THE TONIGHT SHOW.
Born in New York, he earned his degree at Columbia College, followed by a stint in the Army.
