A52 Earns First VFX Honors at AICP Show

Los Angeles vfx and design company A52 was honored for the first time in the visual effects category by the AICP Show for last year's Nike Golf KID TIGER broadcast spot from Wieden+Kennedy.

The presentation of the 15th Annual AICP Show was held June 8 by the Assoc. of Independent Commercial Producers at New York's Museum of Modern Art.

The SIGGRAPH 2006 Papers Program features the latest achievements in the worlds most prestigious presentation of the years best research innovations in computer graphics and interactive techniques. Of 474 international submissions, 86 Papers were accepted for SIGGRAPH 2006 taking place July 30-Aug. 3 in Boston. The SIGGRAPH 2006 Papers Program opens July 31 at 8:30 am and closes Aug. 3 at 5:30 pm.

Superman Comes To IN2TV AT

Timed to coincide with the upcoming release of SUPERMAN RETURNS (in theatres June 28), Warner Bros. and AOL have launched a special Superman Channel on In2TV ( to celebrate the Man of Steel. In2TV is the largest offering of popular television series available online for free and the destination for watching full TV episodes. Lionsgate To Take Happily N'ever After To Big Screen Ball

Lionsgate announced its acquisition of U.S. and Canadian rights to the computer-animated family comedy HAPPILY NEVER AFTER is directed by Paul J. Bolger and written by Robert Moreland. The film was produced by John H. Williams (Oscar-winning SHREK), BAF Berlin Animation Film and BFC Berliner Film Companie, co-exec produced by Ralph Kamp and Louise Goodsill of Odyssey Ent., and exec produced by Rainer Soehnlein, ceo of BFC Berliner Film Companie. It stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Sigourney Weaver, Freddie Prinze Jr., George Carlin, Wallace Shawn and Andy Dick.

Monster Sells I’m an Animal for Nickelodeon UK

Monster Distributes just sold its new animated series, IM AN ANIMAL, from Oscar-nominated Brown Bag Films to Nickelodeon UK. Produced with the support of RTE and the Irish Film Board, the series has already been sold to Rai Italy, TV Ontario, Knowledge Network Canada, Cartoon Network Australia, Cable TV Hong Kong, Sanctuary UK, Hungama TV Indonesia, Malaysia and India and Al Sayyar in the Middle East.

IM AN ANIMAL was one of the top programs at MIPCOM Jr. last year, and will have all 52x2 episodes completed this month.

The 59th International Film Festival in Cannes, held May 17 to 28 2006, awarded the Palme d'Or to British director Ken Loach for THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY, an incisive look at strife in Ireland circa 1920. Two animated shorts, CONTE DE QUARTIER (URBAN TALE) by Florence Miailhe, and MR. SCHWARTZ, MR. HAZEN & MR. HORLOCKER, a student film by Stefan Mueller, amongst the 55 films from 30 countries in competition.
