20 French companies to attend the ASIA TV FORUM

Asia/Oceania represents a significant growing market for French television exports so producers from France are turning out in record number, organized by TV France (TVFI), to attend the Asia TV Forum in Singapore, Dec. 3-5, 2003. This region accounted for 8.7% of French TV program exports, amounting to 9.3 million euros in 2002 (figures resulting from the annual study carried out by TVFI with INA and CNC, available on the Website www.tvfrance-intl.com).

VIZ Acquires Manga ULTIMATE MUSCLE: THE KINNIKUMAN LEGACY

VIZ LLC has announced the acquisition of ULTIMATE MUSCLE: THE KINNIKUMAN LEGACY from Shueisha Inc., one of Japan's largest publishers. The manga will be offered through the SHONEN JUMP line of graphic novels and will begin shipping in March 2004 and hit stores in the U.S. in mid-April.

Tiger Aspect Productions has signed a raft of broadcast and licensing agreements with international partners who for animated MR BEAN, extending the popular character and his outlandish adventures to new markets around the world.

The propertys U.S. and Canadian licensing agent The Sharpe Company has negotiated a deal with Toy Play to launch an innovative figural toy range to the mass and specialty retail market. Cinder Block, a well-known adult/youth apparel vendor, has signed for T-shirts and sweatshirts.

AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS now has a solid summer 2004 release date as well as KING ARTHUR. Marvels IRON FIST may be coming to theaters sooner than later.

Basil Brush Headed for Germany

THE BASIL BRUSH SHOW has been sold to German public service broadcaster ZDF. This deal coincides with Basil's first ever Christmas music single, the double A-side Boom Boom and Christmas Slide that will be released on Dec. 15, 2003 in Germany. The songs will be released in the U.K. on Dec. 8. The 16-year-old singing sensation, India Beau, performs on Boom Boom with Basil. The series will also air on the top rated children's digital channel KIKA, starting fall 2004.

In an interview with the TORONTO STAR, actor Andy Serkis, the man behind LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERs scene-stealing CG character Gollum, alluded to his re-teaming with RINGS director Peter Jackson as the big ape in KING KONG. The article stated, Serkis has an even bigger assignment ahead of him. Rumour has it he'll be the face of King Kong in Peter Jackson's planned 2005 remake of the legendary ape epic.
