Cartoon Network will air a 90-minute special to introduce the new series, DUEL MASTERS, on Feb. 27, 2004 at 5:30 pm. The series will then air Saturdays at 7:00 pm, starting March 13, during Cartoon Network's Saturday action/adventure programming block. CN acquired the series from Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro Inc.

In conjunction with the upcoming live-action feature, Carlton Licensing has sealed deals for new THUNDERBIRDS merchandising. The most recent deal is with FOCUS DIY, featuring collectable THUNDERBIRDS rescue vehicles and badges. The promotion will raise funds for the Meningitis Trust. The badges will be available six months before the new movie hits theaters for a minimum donation of £1. The DIY chain has a long running partnership with the charity and hopes that the collectors badges will help raise more than £100,000 for the Meningitis Trust in 2004.

Nanyang Polytechnic Students Provide Toons for Trains

Starting on February 12, 2004, a total of 27 animated shorts from Nanyang Polytechnic students will air on MRT trains in Singapore, reports CHANNEL NEWS ASIA. Nanyang Polytechnic partner TV Mobile put the deal together.

Kim Wong-Nathan, programming director of TV Mobile at MediaCorp, said, "Our average commuting time is about 26 minutes and these animations comes in fun short bites, and it's actually refreshing and entertaining for our TV commuters, and for people on the move."

Gundam Seed & Detective Conan Come to Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network is set to air anime series GUNDAM SEED and DETECTIVE CONAN, beginning in April.

The latest GUNDAM anime series will air on its weekend Action Block. GUNDAM SEED's appearance on the Cartoon Network will roughly coincide with the release of the first volume of the GUNDAM SEED manga from Del Rey on April 30.
