    3 Animation Courses For Spring/Summer 2004

    1. Animation - Do It Yourself Intro to Character Animation Tuesdays

    May 4th - Aug. 17th 2004 7-10pm
    Learn the fundamentals of making your drawings come alive This sixteen week night course is geared to plunge the beginning student into the general principals of character animation through various hands on assignments, demos and lectures. Each class will include screenings of some of the best short animation from around the world. Basic digital tools will be used for this course including the Lunchbox single frame recording system and imovie for editing picture and sound. This is the perfect starter course, or if you ate working on your own short project, or considering a career in the industry for internal, series or features.

    2. Story Sound and Vision

    (or, Everything you wanted to know about making an animated short film but were afraid to ask)

    Thursdays, May 6th Aug. 19th 2004 7-10pm
    A series of lectures, screenings and short assignments, 16 week course covering basics, including lectures on classical story structure, the visual vocabulary of film, sound design and recording, film and digital animation process, and distribution of your work. This course Is also the perfect for learning grant writing. From this course you will be armed with a tool kit for creating and distributing your first animated film.

    3. Animation Project Studio

    Work on your own animation!

    Mondays, May 3rd - Aug. 16 2004 7-10pm
    16 weeks working on your film, with a knowledgeable animation instructor for support. Short lectures will be created based on the needs of the animated film you have always wanted to do but could never find the time. Work in a structured, supportive, challenging environment where everyone can get inspired by everyone else.

    Members: $350.00* / non-members: $400.00 / repeat offenders special: $200.00**

    * please note., to qualify for the discount you must be a QAS member for at least 60 days
    ** to qualify for this offer you must have attended this course once before + certificates will be provided for participants who successfully complete any of the above courses.

    Try drawing, flip books, cut-outs, character design, morphs, animation, claymation and more....

    ANIME for Teens!

    July 12 - 16
    Nutty about Anime??? Try all the animation stuff but with an Anime twist! Draw, morph, bounce balls and create your own film all in the Anime style. Watch a feature length film in the screening room. Yes...you can create that oh so cool Anime look at QAS.

    2D CAMPS

    July 19 - 23
    August 9 - 13
    Try drawing, flip books, cut-outs, character design, morphs, animation and more....

    3D CAMPS

    July 5 - 9
    August 23 - 27
    Try set building, plasticine, character design, special effects and get your hands smeared with goo the old fashioned way without computers...

    Camp fees:

    $195.00 members
    250.00 non-members

    Camps run Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm.

    Fees include all supplies, and a video copy of the animation completed in camp. Non-member fees include a one year Quick-kid membership.

    $5.00, please pre-register.
    Gain a overall understanding of the facilities and procedures for working on your film at QAS. What resources are available to produce your animated film and how to utilize these recourses. This is a great orientation for new members and those who would like a better understanding of QAS facilities and programs.
