Going Full Throttle on DVD with Charlie's Angels
Created 10/21/2003 - 00:00
The highly anticipated DVD release of CHARLIE'S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE streets Oct. 21, 2003 in both theatrical and un-rated versions (Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment, $27.94). Directed once again by McG and starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu, the sequel capitalizes on more creative stunts, sexy costumes and a pulsating soundtrack.
The un-rated DVD, however, does not include an alternate version of the film, but, rather, additional footage and special features, including such featurettes as "Pussycat Dolls," containing a profile of Robin Antin's erotic dance troupe; "Rolling with the Punches," which focuses on training, choreographing, rehearsing and filming the fight scenes; "XXX-treme Angels," which details the Angels and Moto-Cross scene; along with "Full Throttle Jukebox," a menu-driven list of the soundtrack songs. Clicking on a song gives the viewer a short clip of McG and music supervisor John Houlihan talking about how and why the song was used. Then the viewer is connected to the scene where that song belongs.
Other special edition features include: McG's telestrator commentary, in which the director illustrates his points a la John Madden during MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL; a featurette on the filming of the Hansen Dam sequence; a featurette on the filming of the opening montage; and such DVD-ROM features as CHARLIE'S ANGELS: ANGEL X ONLINE GAME and a link to the CHARLIE'S ANGELS animated shorts.
