GenArts Inc. has just released Sapphire Plug-ins for burn, Discreet's
new Linux-based background rendering software. With the new version of Sapphire Plug-ins, inferno, flame and flint artists will be able to use burn to process projects faster, increasing productivity and maximizing creative time.
"I am very impressed with how fast and how well Sapphire Plug-ins work with Discreet's burn," proclaims David Takayama, sr interactive compositing artist at Sony Pictures Imageworks. "In fact, Sapphire with burn was incredibly useful in helping us to finish work for BAD BOYS 2.
"Rendering on burn is actually much faster than processing locally, plus I can keep working at the same time," adds Nate Robinson, inferno artist at Ntropic, a San Francisco-based post-production and visual effects boutique. "At Ntropic we use Sapphire Plug-ins regularly for work on features, including THE MATRIX RELOADED. Now we are using them successfully with burn for work on UNDERWORLD."
Sapphire Plug-ins for burn are available immediately from GenArts for $2,000 per dual processor workstation, or $1,600 each for four or more. The software can be obtained directly from the GenArts Website at: web.genarts.com/sapphire-sparks.html, or from Discreet resellers and sales representatives.
