Blade Runner: Final Cut to Arrive in 2007
Created 05/26/2006 - 00:00
Warner Home Video has retained long-term rights to Ridley Scott's BLADE RUNNER, reports VARIETY, paving the way for a new FINAL CUT in 2007 in honor of the 25th anniversary of the influential sci-fi thriller based on Philip K. Dick's novel. A limited theatrical release of the FINAL CUT will be followed by a collector's edition DVD containing all four versions of the Harrison Ford-starrer (including theatrical version, director's cut and international version).
The visual effects team included: designer Syd Mead, visual effects supervisors Mark Stetson (chief model maker), Bill George (uncredited miniature design and construction) and Hoyt Yeatman (uncredited visual displays), as well as vfx editor Michael Backauskas (visual effects assistant editor), among others. And vfx supervisor Mike Fink worked as an action prop supervisor.
WHV, meanwhile, will reissue a remastered DIRECTOR'S CUT on DVD in September for four months before it goes on moratorium.
